It’s a tradition that I believe originated from the UK and is still done in the US and UK today.
It’s objects a bride should have on her wedding day for good luck. But as all old traditions they don’t always have to be done nowadays. I think it’s cute and fun

Yep you’re 100% right. The sixpence part doesn’t get used as often anymore. Did you ask your mom for her earrings or did she offer?

I told her what I was looking for and she offered her earrings and my grandmothers pearl necklace but I think the necklace would be too much with all the beading in my gown. So I’m keeping my ceremony jewelry to a minimum.

Old: I’m going to have bracelets that belonged to my dad’s parents pinned to my bouquet.

New: the dress (and belt and veil and shoes and slip, and bra 🤪)

Borrowed: I’m not sure yet. I’m hoping I can borrow earrings from someone that’s really the only piece I haven’t solidified yet.

Blue: shoes and garter. Though my mom would try to argue with me and say the teal is green not blue but oh well.

Old: my shoes, I bought them last year for a couple weddings we attended and they're so comfortable, and still in great shape so I'm wearing them again

    New: wedding dress, veil

Borrowed: a necklace and bracelet from my sister (they could count as my something old too)

Blue: my earrings have blue gemstones
