Something, old, new, borrowed and blue?

Fmv, on June 26, 2019 at 8:14 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 16
What is everyone doing for this tradition?
Or are you skipping it all together?
Heres mine:
Old- my grandmother gifted me a single pearl necklace on my 25th(golden) birthday, that was gifted to her from my aunt for my grandmas 80th birtnday..she is now 89.
New- will probably be my wedding band
Borrowed- i am going to try to find a broach from my grandma or see if anyone has one that my great grandmother used when she was alive
Blue- my dad passed away in 2017, and my mom has all of his shirts- he wore alot of flannel shirts. I plan on using some of the blue fabric and having it possibly wrapped on my bouquet ,also might have a piece of it cut and sewn into my dress in the shape of a heart so that it will lay over my heart

Those are cute ideas! I’m not following this tradition as it just adds to the list of things I need to do and the list is a mile long already. Lol

I'm planning on doing this, but still have a few things to figure out.

Old: not sure on this one, might be my earrings if I can't find a new pair that I like.

    New: dress, wedding band, etc.

Borrowed: a handkerchief that my grandma and mom carried in their weddings - I just have to find somewhere to put it

Blue: my shoes! (I'm still not 100% sold on this, but they're likely to be my something blue.

    I love your ideas!

    Mine will be:-

Old:- a 1920s hairpiece which belonged to FMIL's family. She gave it to me before we were even engaged and doesn't know I'll be wearing it on the day, hopefully a nice surprise for her. My dress has some 20s/30s inspired accents so it should fit in nicely.

New:- A few things that could fit the bill, I guess my veil or my wedding band? Oooh or my shoes.

    Borrowed:- My mum's pearl necklace.

Blue:- I am planning to crochet my own garter in ivory lace and sew some tartan ribbon in FH's family tartan around the middle, the main colour of the tartan is blue. I'm not doing a garter toss though, it's just for me lol.

I wanted to make sure I pay tribute to both my own family and FH's so I thought using FMIL's hairpiece and my own mum's pearls would be a nice touch, something from each of them.

New - Just about everything. haha. I'm using my necklace that my MIL is making me.

Borrowed - Opal earrings from my mom.

    Blue - my garter.

I was planning on skipping it but I pretty much have all of them without trying.

old- my grandma is making me a little purse out of my moms wedding dress.

new- I am buying a bracelet with our birthstones in it to wear.

Borrowed- I don't have but I'm sure I can find something.

Blue- the guardian angel pin for my bouquet.

I was skipping this until my future step MIL completely surprised me at my shower with a trunk of items, which was SO touching. I bawled.

Old - she got me bouquet charms with pictures of FH’s grandparents on their wedding days
New - she bought my veil for me and I had no idea when it would come in, but it had actually come in a few days before my shower so she went to pick it up and had it laying in the trunk
Borrowed - her hair pieces from her wedding day. I may use these for my rehearsal dinner or in some other way instead because I had already bought a hairpiece for my wedding which goes perfectly with my dress
Blue - a custom embroidery piece she had made with mine and FH’s monogram in blue which will be going in my wedding dress

    Those are great ideas!

    For mine they are:

Old: a silver/white broach that was my grandmas, she passed away in 2017.

New: My dress and wedding band

    Borrowed: Not sure yet lol

Blue: I will be painting my toenails blue since my colors are emerald green and silver so blue doesn't match anything for that lol

Old - The center diamond on my engagement ring belonged to my great great grandmother, and my FMIL cut pieces of her dress to make a wrap for my bouquet.

New - Dress, earrings, garter, veil!

Borrowed - Not sure yet! We are using my great great grandmother's cake topper, and making the same favors my parents did, but I'm not sure this counts as "borrowed"? I also took my fiance's nametape from one of his USMC uniforms and am sewing it on the inside of my dress!

Blue - All my bridesmaids are in blue, parts of my bouquet will be blue, groomsmen ties are blue!
