Someone please tell me I’m crazy

Abigail, on January 2, 2020 at 6:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 21
I’m getting ready to send our STDs, and I’m looking to buy stamps. We are just doing postcards, so I can buy cheaper, 35¢ stamps, but the ones available at USPS are so ugly! Weird seashells and coral reefs. I’m tempted to just buy forever stamps for 55¢ because then I can get nicer (or just plainer) ones, but it feels crazy to spend an extra 20 cents per card because I don’t like the design on the stamps. They’re stamps!! No one will notice, right??

I never look at stamps when I get mail, but I definitely understand you. I'd probably think the same! 🙈 But I don't think you should bother spending more. Nobody will notice.

I was very selective with our stamps. We chose wedding related stamps for our save the dates, invitations, and thank you cards. If I got a save the date with a seashell or coral reef on it, I would assume you were having a beach wedding.

I'm in the same boat and agreed! Definitely not my favorite stamp design. I'm just not worrying about it. One of the reasons we went with postcards is to save money so it seems silly to spend more on postage! I wouldn't stress too much about it. I don't think people will notice and even if they do it doesn't matter too much 🤷‍♀️

Literally, no one but you will care/notice the stamps. Like others, I'd assume you chose post cards for the cost savings; don't second-guess yourself with stamps!

I needed the regular forever stamps and FH said I could use his roll of flag stamps. Ha! He thought I was crazy when I said I wanted pretty stamps, but I put a lot of effort into making our beautiful invitations. I ended up getting the winter berry stamps which I thought were very pretty.

Just mailed out my postcard save the dates actually! I was on the same train of thought, but like you said, no one is really going to notice so I saved the 20¢ /stamp and just went with the postcard ones! So far the biggest issue I’ve had is that the machine label they print (usually OVER THE STAMP) was put across the front of the card, right on our photo 😒 so if you’re thinking about splurging for nicer stamps anyways, I suggest putting them in envelopes to really get your worth out of it!

I don't think it matters what the stamps look like. As long as your STD makes it to the destination. Your friends and family want the information. I doubt they judge you for stamps 🤷🏾‍♀️

Lol TBH I completely understand. I ultimately chose to get wedding themed stamps. It wouldn’t have sat right with me had I gotten non wedding themed stamps. I paid the extra fee. They had some that were normal price and some more expensive. I did both.

We also had post cards but I used forever stamps. I notice stamps when I get mail so it was important to me to have nice ones. It was also only $20 more for us which isn’t breaking our budget in the grand scheme of things.

I admit, I used the forever stamps....for the same reason. I'm very detail oriented, so I would definitely notice.

So, it depends on how many of your friends and family, are like usSmiley winking
You say crazy, like it's a bad thing❤😁Congratulations! You are worth the extra 20 ¢ per stamp.

Girl - you should go through postable. It uploads everyone addresses and sends and stamps all of
Them for you. It was so easy. I had 150 and paid 250ish

I had the exact same thought. Went as far as looking on ebay and amazon. Nobody has anything but the dumb seashells. Kinda wished I was getting married on a beach so it would make more sense... lol Oh well. It's only $20 extra for me to get the pretty stamps. I'll pay that to make the STD more cohesive.

I felt the same way, that people would look at the stamps. I was able to ask the post office for wedding stamps and they had a few to choose from. Will probably do the same thing again when we send our invitations

Having just sent out postcard Save The Dates, no one will notice the stamps. We asked a few people and no one had. Reason for asking - courtesy of large QR code-like stamps from the USPS self serve kiosk. Not attractive for sure. But we also mostly sent out the STD's to long distance family and friends that would need to know for travel plans, etc. We'll be getting nice wedding stamps for the invitations for sure.

I had a similar problem. Our beautiful Victorian RSVP's, I mean total Victorian look, ended up with the seashells because that's all I could get. I do notice the stamps because I'm just detail oriented, but I personally would not buy the more expensive stamps. You can go on Zazzle and design your own, but they are a bit more expensive. I didn't know about Zazzle when I bought the seashells. Anyway, THE MAJORITY of your guests will not notice, or care. ❤
