Someone peel me off the ceiling :(

Mrs. RATR, on December 22, 2015 at 1:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

I have an appointment to try on my wedding dress tomorrow. I'm so excited to see it, but terrified that I won't be able to fit my big ass into it. When I ordered it in July the sample size 14 fit perfectly, but I've gained a few pounds since then and most of those pounds are in my butt (which isn't small to begin with). WHY oh WHY did I pick a form fitting butt-showing dress?!??!

Anyone else experience this? Especially with the holidays, this timing is just not cute. Oh, and I am a total genius and scheduled our cake-tasting a couple hours before the dress appointment. Hahaha what was I thinking??

Hey, stop stressing! My wife ordered her dress in February when she was still really fluffy. She worked her ASS off and looked amazing by our wedding day. They didn't do fittings until August and had her final one like the week before the wedding. You have plenty of time.

Make a pledge for the new year to work out more and eat healthier :-) Pinterest has lots of great 30 day health meal recipes. A dress can't really be let out :/ Can you push out your first appointment? Your wedding isn't until Sept. I got married Sept 26 and first appointment was Feb 15... that would give you 6 weeks to work off those few pounds you want to lose.

Remember ultimately that you will be beautiful on your wedding day no matter what.

Spanx will make a form fitting dress fit weird. It pushes fat into different places. Trust me.

When I ordered my dress in April, I tried on a dress that was many sizes bigger than what I ordered. I measured between two sizes, and the shop insisted I order the smaller. It fits because it's a corset, but the back panel doesn't button unless I don't wear a bra. I know for a fact I won't be losing weight before the wedding, because winter is rough. Why did I plan a wedding so soon after the holidays? Luckily, the seamstress said we can move the panel over slightly very close to the wedding if I decide I want to wear a bra. It'll work out!

I tried on my dress for the 1st time this past Saturday, and had the same fears as you. I was literally sick to my stomach! I have gained some weight, but the damn thing is still TOO big lol. It will have to be taken in...I wore spanx just in case...you will be fine Smiley smile

Your booty is going to look awesome! Honestly if you've got it, flaunt it. Bring some spanx just in case, but don't be too hard on yourself.

You will be fine! Even if it does end up being a little tight when you first try it on, you still have enough time to get into it :-) I don't fit into my dress at the moment, so I totally understand your fear. Don't be too hard on yourself!

I will say, don't get it sized smaller hoping you will lose weight. Things will happen and it might not work out. You'll look beautiful either way. Get it to fit you NOW and if you lose weight, have them take it in.

I was at a wedding 2 years ago where the ceremony was delayed 45 mins and guests didn't know why. Turns out the bride could not get into her dress and had to have her aunts and grandmas let out all the seams and basically sew her into her dress. They didn't dance at the reception because she didn't want to break the new seams....

You want to be able to move and enjoy your day and whether than is in a size 0 or a 10 or a 20, it doesn't matter as long as you have a great day!

I am with NowASeptMrs, Heather was mortified when she had to order her dress in a 14! She is not a 14, but it was what they suggested. By the time the dress came in June, it was WAY to big. Then she lost even more weight. You will look better in a dress that fits you perfectly, no matter what size it is.

Wedding dresses are so oddly sized like @VMDizzle said. I am 5 ft and 110 lbs and I ordered an 8.... normally wear a 2 and very petite. Don't focus on the size, focus on the fit! I had to have 5 inches taken off the bottom and 3 inches on either side. A good seamstress will tailor the dress to fit you... whatever YOU look like to highlight your assets!

I ordered it in July so can't really undo that now. I really don't care about the number on the tag; if I'm a 14 in bridal then that's that (even though I'm an 8 in every other dress...cool move, bridal designers). I think part of my worry is that I've been having doubts about the dress anyway, and if it doesn't fit tomorrow I'll be REALLY disappointed. I'm planning long-distance so I only have one or two more opportunities to try on the dress before September.

But, as you've all said, I do have plenty of time to get squattin' and get this booty in gear Smiley smile I do have spanx with me and they made the dress more comfortable when I tried it on before (fortunately I don't have the amount of excess fat that would start poking out of weird places under the spanx). Lara, your butt is adorable! lol

Girl, I 100% feel you! I was between sizes when I ordered my dress, and I'm glad I ordered up! I tried it on when it came in just before Thanksgiving, and it needed to be taken in then. I've managed to have only put on 4 lbs since I bought it, but I'm forcing myself to lose at least 8-10 before my first fitting in May. Since the dress is now hanging in my closet, it's good motivation.

I am determined to have to take this bad boy in to a legit size 12! I also seriously don't understand bridal sizes...walking into my appointment wearing a size 8 dress and ordering a 14 gown is not a joyful experience. Come on, vanity sizing! Smiley winking At least it was because of my chest measurement? lol

Ohh I wore spanx under my suit, it's just with wedding dresses, they can be really funny! Heather's seamstress recommended not wearing them with tight fitting dresses, could be wrong. I mean, you see I don't wear dresses hahaha
