Someone is trying to invite themselves to my wedding

Montana, on August 25, 2019 at 7:34 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8
A girl my fiancé and I used to work with invited herself to our wedding. It’s in 13 days. I haven’t given her any details although she keeps asking, but I’m not sure how to say politely that she can’t come. We have already put in numbers for all of our catering so we can’t make an exception for her family of 6. Our wedding is not going to be small either so we will have a lot of family and friends there which makes it harder for me to figure out what to say to her.

Simply say you already had to turn in your numbers for catering and there are no changes allowed.
Mans really, how rude to assume her family of six could be added at this late date.

I would tell her the truth. You've already finalized numbers for the wedding and she wouldn't have meals or a seat. Don't feel bad telling her this. It was really rude of her to invite herself!

Thank you! That’s a great idea! It’s so hard to not hurt peoples feelings but weddings are not cheap at all.
I thought it was extremely rude as well especially since she knows how close it is and that we already sent out our invitations and save the dates months ago.
    Thank you again!

Great idea! Thank you so much! That’s my problem, I feel bad and I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. I have to toughen up and be honest with her.
I thought it was rude of her too! I was honestly shocked. I would never invite myself anywhere but especially not to someone’s wedding at the last minute.

I was shocked! Thank you! I ended up texting her back and letting her know that we already sent in all of our final numbers and that we were at max capacity. I feel bad but then again, I would never do that to someone.

Ma'am, listen. If you wanted to invite her, you would have. Why do people assume that they and everyone that they know should be invited to someone else’s Wedding?!

Tell her your final numbers are in with catering and no changes are allowed, once finalized. That's what I'm telling anyone who has rsvp'd a week after rsvps were due and I reached out to everyone who hadn't rsvp'd.
