Someone asked about how to stop yourself from crying...

>>>Insert Ty's New Gangsta Name Here<<<, on September 14, 2010 at 11:44 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

I found this =====> http://m.wikihow.com/Stop-Yourself-from-Crying

Of course some of these solutions are not practical during a wedding (watch a movie for example)

I tried #8 at church this past Sunday. It worked. But I found myself concentrating more on not crying that I missed a few moments of the sermon. Smiley sad

I also read somewhere else that looking upwards in general helps. But I think that could look a bit strange (ie what the heck is she looking at). *shurgs* HTH.

    I've heard a wives' tale that if you cry during your wedding, there will be more happiness during the marriage than pain!

    Ya, I have been thinking about that, because I am definitely a crier. But I don't want to zone out and miss anything!

    Thanks for the tips! I'm a huuuge crier, so much that I was sobbing as MOH in my sister's wedding, and she turned around to laugh at me. I don't mind a few tears, I just don't want to be a red, snotty mess!

    I have heard you are so busy, and happy, and pumped up, there is no time to cry

    FH and I are writing our own vows. I know as soon as he gets one sentence into his I'll be sobbing hysterically. Thanks for the list! Will try to keep it together on the big day, lol. Still going to invest in some waterproof mascara.

    I'm prepared to cry - we're going to be one big mess of crying people at my wedding, at least for the first 5 minutes of the ceremony where we honor my decased father and other passed relatives and friends. So, we've bought stock in tissue companies (jk lol - but with the amount of tissues we've bought it feels like we own them!! lol), and I've prepared my hairstylist and makeup artist so they know to figure out a way to keep the makeup from streaking and the hair from going limp (I sweat alot when I get upset and nervous lol)...I have a feeling I'll be looking like the bride of frankenstein by the time the ceremony's over anway lol

    Like Nicole I am going to have everyone crying, and there will be tissue boxes in the Pews. My Dad and I are stopping at the pew my grandmother sat in until she passed away last year. (my mom and I both grew up in the church sitting with her) there will be a vase of her favorite flowers on the pew and it will be blocked off so no one can sit there. that will start the flow. Then my FH and I are writing our own vows so that will keep me crying. My hair dresser is doing my makeup and we are planning on some high end fake lashes. she says they are better then mascara and don't run. Good luck to eveyrone else :-)

    8 Blink a few times and look into the light; this makes your pupils constrict and keep tears from falling.

    9 Cross your eyes. This is also another way to prevent tears from forming.

    10 Also, rolling your eyes works the same way.

    ....okay I just have to say....your pupils constricting does NOT stop you from crying....and I think the only way crossing and rolling your eyes stops you from crying is that you've just turned psycho and won't be in a crying mood! lol

    I know I'm going to cry so I'm not going to worry about trying to prevent it. I allowed my step-daughter to read what I've written so far and she started crying which made me cry. As long as no one cries I'm okay but I know my family WE'RE A BUNCH OF CRY BABIES

    I sing the Smurf song in my head. You can not be anythng but happy when you are singing that tune. It has really helped with the prewedding stress.

    @Hillary I warned y'all that some of these would not work during a wedding. I was more interested in stopping my current tears...and they are all gone. *Praise Ye the Lord*
