Some advice for diy backyard brides!!

Aubrey, on October 27, 2020 at 10:21 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 2 9
My backyard wedding was Saturday and it was perfect! We decided to have the wedding 3 weeks before. Literally had 3 weeks to pull off an entire wedding, and even though it was only 30 people it wasn’t easy! We did manage to stay at around $4,000 total for everything, including food and alcohol! I wanted to share a few of the DIY solutions I came up with that made the night incredible.

Dance floor: I spent entire days trying to figure this one out. Renting a dance floor is EXPENSIVE. There’s ways to make one with pallets but we didn’t have the time. There is always the throw carpet idea but definitely not easy to dance on. We took a trip to Lowe’s and in the clearance flooring remnants section we found a roll of 12x12 vinyl flooring!! We laid that out on the grass, strong some lights around it and we were set with a dance floor!! for added safety we used 50 cent tent stakes from Walmart to stake down the corners so no one tripped over it! Arbor: We made our arbor out of thin PVC piping, spray painted it with a black primer, then spray painted with a coat of “antique gold” to make it look like brass piping. Honestly I couldn’t tell the difference and the whole thing including paint cost us $15. We got some sale fabric from JoAnne Fabrics and then tied some Ivy from our garden around the sides. The best part is the whole thing comes apart and can be used for photo backdrops at other parties! Some advice for diy backyard brides!! 3

The dollar store was my best friend. I got centerpieces for all of our tables, candles, and fake greenery for about $40. We got a bunch of fake tea lights and lined all of the paths around the backyard as well and it looked magical! We also got packages of 20 paper lanterns with lights from Amazon for about $10 and hung them around all over the backyard.
You do not need to spend a lot of money to have the best day ever. I just wanted to share because these were things I figured out, but would’ve loved to have seen before!!
