Soldering rings together?

Steph, on March 26, 2017 at 8:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

We haven't looked at wedding bands at all yet, and it won't be a concern for awhile, but I mentioned recently to FH that I was planning to solder my rings together, as most of the married women I know have done it and been happy with it. FH was very opposed to the idea, so it got me wondering... has anyone soldered your rings together? Or are you planning to? Are you happy with your decision?

My mother and grandmothers and his mother and grandmothers did and I plan to. Why is opposed to the idea? Does he want you to just wear your wedding ring? Does he think it will look bad? Does he think it's unusual? Almost all the married women I know have their rings soldered.

No one in his family has their rings soldered together, he hadn't really heard of it before I'd mentioned it and he said he thought it might damage the rings. We'll talk to the jeweler when we look at wedding bands and see what they say too.

I did and it was annoying to me but I have big knuckles. I ended up getting them separated.

It does depend on what rings you get. Some rings would be damaged, many wouldn't. Talking to your jeweler is a good idea.

I have never heard of this but I LOVE it. I'm going to see if this can be done for me. ETA: FH bought my e-ring and band in a set, so they match and if I were to change or upgrade one, I'd do both.

I'm not. My e-ring and wedding band are completely different designs and metals. Plus, I want to be able to wear my band without my e-ring sometimes.

I'm going to solder mine after the ceremony. My band is a shadow band and very thin/delicate so our jeweler suggested it. Due to the style of my band I'll never wear it alone without my engagement ring so I'm not too worried over it.
