soldered rings?

That'll Be Mrs Small 2 U, on May 4, 2017 at 2:05 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 24

Hello all, I am strongly considering getting my e ring along with both wedding bands soldered together. BUT before i do, are there any thoughts about this, possibly from those who aren't doing this? I'm just wanting to make sure that there aren't things that i have failed to think of before i get all three rings put together forever, lol. Thanks in advance.

I'll probably get mine soldered together. My wedding band has diamonds that go partially around the band, and I want them to match up with the ones on my ering. It would bother me too much to have to fix it every couple hours.

I found this website listing pros and cons while googling how to spell the word soldered. It seems like something that would be of help to you.

I'm not. When I got my engagement ring, my dad suggested not doing this because my mom did and he wishes he could see her engagement ring alone every once in a while

I'm def getting mine done. The only argument I've heard is wanting to wear your wedding band alone. But I haven't once taken off my ring since I've been engaged other than to have it cleaned/inspected so I don't think that's going to be an issue for me.

My mom soldered an heirloom ring together, to strengthen it. The band's were getting thin and she wanted to protect the rings. I'm in talks with a local jeweler about getting the rings restored, but they are original tiffanies and I worry that it'll reduce the value to reset. If I wanted to pass the ring down to my children they couldn't use it as an ering because they are soldered together

I have the same issue! My ering is fine by itself, but the wedding band is an enhancer and I would never wear this by itself. I guess I feel the soldering is just so final! What if I change my mind!? I also would be without wearing my ring for a month until the wedding which I would be sad about. I am getting my rings sized tomorrow for our wedding, so I have to figure this out too. Will be interesting to see others and why they have or have not soldered their rings.

Fun fact I learned from my jeweler: soldering is apparently not permanent. Your rings can be "un-soldered." Feel free to fact-check me on that, but that's what they told me. I was really hesitant to do it because my e-ring is an heirloom, and I wanted to maintain its integrity. But learning it wasn't a huge deal made the choice easy.

I'm not doing mine. My wedding band is designed to hit around my halo so it might not look great on its own, but I at least want to have the option for one instead of wearing both. My engagement ring sits a little high as well, so there are situations where it might be easier to just wear my wedding band.

I didn't know this was a thing until WW. I didn't do it. After the wedding I started working at a job where I see inmates on a regular basis, so I only wear my wedding ring to work now and not my engagement ring. There definitely are times where I wear one without the other. Another example is I went to a overnight bachelorette and just slept in my wedding ring and didn't bring my engagement down. I didn't want to lose it and I didn't know a few girls going so it was just a precaution.

I didn't think I wanted to do it, and everyone always asks me "are you sure?!" I have a shadow band that was designed to fit the curvature of my e-ring. By itself, it has a scalloped look to it. I just wasn't sure I would always want to wear both rings together (on vacations, if we were doing something where I thought the e-ring would get in the way or both rings would seem too dressy). I decided to tell everyone I wanted to wait to decide if I was going to solder them because I honestly wanted to see if the rings would twist and not stay together the way they are supposed to or if I would ever want to just wear my band. I don't think I'm going to solder mine, but it's really my personal preference. I loved wearing just my band, despite the unique shape, on our honeymoon and I am not finding that my rings twist out of place very often because of the way the band is cut to fit into the e-ring.

Runawaybride - our jeweler told us it wasn't permanent, too, but understood my logic behind wanting to try wearing them unsoldered together for a while first.

I won't be getting mine soldered. I want to be able to just wear the band if I want. My ring is an emerald cut and can be a little bit sharp. I've scratched myself before. When we have babies I will probably just wear the band for the most part.

I did it. I hated it. Got them separated after a month.

I won't be getting mine done. I wanted a wedding band that I could wear on its own. My coworker has her ring soldered and hates it. She said she wished she could just wear her band some days.

I have two bands and am just having one soldered to my e-ring that way I have some options on how I want to wear it all. I know I won't want to wear both bands on a daily basis and if I ever just want to wear a band I can just wear the one that isn't soldered on its own.

I am getting mine soldered together before the wedding so I don't have apart with them after. Also, for our one year I am getting other matching band so I can wear it single if I truly want too. However it is recommended by the jeweler based on wear and tear of the ring with my rings and that it keeps them stronger and in good condition. You can get them unsoldered too if you truly hate it

I will probably have mine done. One of my friends had hers done. The only reason she wishes she didnt is because we are both health care professionals and it would be easier to just wear a wedding band (ripping gloves).

I won't get mine done. I chose my wedding band so I could wear it separately. I don't know how much that will happen because I also love my ering but I like having options!

I wore mine for 3 weeks after the wedding before I sent them in to be soldered. I wanted to see if I really wanted them to be soldered. I found that my bands were constantly twisting around every which way and it drove me nuts. I had them soldered and it is so much better and more comfortable now Smiley smile
