Softdrinks

Justine, on August 20, 2019 at 11:50 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
Hey! I know this has been a million posts but I am really having trouble knowing what to buy. I am having an open bar and alongside it I am wanting to have softdrinks for everyone. Should I do bottled or canned and about how many? 200 guests, 5 hour reception, some of the people are health nuts and think sugar is the devil btw.

Sometimes caterers cover this so I would check in with them

I agree with PP that I would check to see if your caterer or bar service offers a drink package. The package through our caterer was more expensive than we thought was reasonable, so we're buying all of the drinks ourselves. We're doing cans. I would find it odd to have bottled drinks unless you're referring to two liters. We plan to buy everything from Costco because their 35 packs of Coke products are the best prices we've found so far. We're planning for 3 drinks pp, knowing that many people will be drinking alcohol anyway. We're planning to offer Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Root Beer, lemonade, and water.

My caterer does not cover it. When we were at costco the other day, I didn't even look at them! I will check there today.

I have heard that some people don't like drinking out of cans so I was thinking about buying individual bottles. Is that stupid?

I would buy what’s cheaper. I wouldn’t want to drink out of a can at a wedding either, but bartenders usually just pour drink in a glass anyway, so I don’t think you need to worry about that.
For health conscious people you can do Zevia instead of coke, ginger ale & other fizzy drinks. Zevia has no sugar or artificial sugar, it’s sweetened with natural zero calories stevia. It’s affordable & tastes really great!

You’re welcome! Yes it’s cheap, all natural, zero sugar & tastes great (my favorites are cola & ginger ale). It’s the only soft drink we ever drink!

I would assume one drink per hour per guest (some won't drink any, some will drink a little more). If the sodas are primarily for mixed drinks, I'd say canned. If they're for drinking by themselves I'd say bottles.

We're doing cans. Bottles are cheaper but super awkward and heavy to haul...and pour. I rather have a can spill than a 2ltr.
