Hello, I had a quick question especially for those that are already married! We are doing a Destination Wedding and we are doing a Cash Bar; they are providing water, coffee and Tea. There will be children there but not many because it is a GetAway. Do I purchase soda? If so, how many? OR Do I...

Hello, I had a quick question especially for those that are already married!

We are doing a Destination Wedding and we are doing a Cash Bar; they are providing water, coffee and Tea. There will be children there but not many because it is a GetAway.

Do I purchase soda? If so, how many?

OR

Do I cancel that out and let them purchased it along with alcohol they already have to buy?

The Reception is only 3 hours.

I agree with Sara. Destination weddings should have a high standard of hosting since you are asking people to spend so much money to attend. I wouldn't attend a destination wedding if I knew I had to buy my own drinks, its already really expensive to be a guest.

Thank you Mandi!!! I appreciate that a lot.

I have been to weddings where there was both Open and Cash. The Open Bars ppl had too much too drink and was loonie. The Cash Bar, most ppl know to bring money with them especially if you are from out of town. Most of the time, people sneak their own drink of preference or purchase 3 drinks. I was nice to only get a couple of drinks at a open bar because I know it is expensive and I needed to drive home.

I come from Hard Knocks and nowhere near snobby plus we are paying for this wedding by ourselves and have the honor to have it paid off in May. I'm just going over some things along the way to make sure everything is covered. Our wedding is exactly 90 days away :-)

I'm sorry but this is ridiculous. You set your budget and obviously over invited. You should have considered hosting your guests and the amount they are paying when you chose how to host your wedding.
I saw in another thread of yours that guests were upset that they had to travel. How do you think they'll feel when they have to travel and you dont even recognize their effort by hosting them at the wedding let alone the entire weekend?
Paying for your own wedding is not a valid excuse for bad hosting.

Its your bartender's job to make sure your guests do not get sloppy drunk, that's part of the reason why you have one and are paying them. As a guest, if I paid thousands of dollars to travel, stay and attend a destination wedding I would be insulted that you couldn't even be bothered to recognize my time, effort and expense and provide a fully hosted event.

I don't drink alcohol tea, a little coffee, water and coke products would be my choice if no come products tea. So cash bar wouldn't bother me. I reckon a lot of people do drink and if they care about you and understand why you went with a cash bar they will probably be fine. And hey maybe drink less since they have to pay for it.

Okay, for one, I grew up on welfare, so you stating that your "from Hard Knocks and nowhere near snobby" means nothing to me.

Secondly, my FH and I are also paying for the wedding by ourselves, so we have had to scale back certain things, BUT we didn't scale back on food or drinks for our guests... The whole point of the reception is to host your guests to thank them for traveling all that way to celebrate you two.

But, from reading some of your previous posts, you obviously either don't understand or don't care. So I guess I shouldn't waste anymore time trying to change your mind. I hope you and your guests both enjoy your wedding.

I didn't ask if I should have a Open Bar or Cash Bar, I think you misread what I put. I asked should I have sodas. Please read the Heading again. I'm confused on why you ranted on reading your comment as if you was a guest asking to be there. I simply asked about soda, then said that if you would like you can go on my registry and purchased the Visa Gift cards.
