Socks

jennifer, on March 1, 2018 at 9:25 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15
Thinking about getting some for the women at the reception so they don’t have to be in heels all night. What do you all think? Have you been to a wedding that did this? I’m not too worried if not everyone wants a pair I need new socks anyway. Thanks for the input.

I wouldn’t get socks. Maybe flip flops or slippers. Socks don’t provide any protection if there’s broken glass

It’s very thoughtful but I personally don’t think it’s necessary.

Lots of dance floors can be a little slippery too and socks don't have any traction.

I've heard of flip-flops, seems like they'd work better.

I see a bunch of slips, slides, sprains and fractures.

I've heard of providing flip flops, but not socks. I don't think I would want to wear socks all dressed up for a wedding. Hopefully they will think to bring some comfy flats or something to dance in when they're tired of wearing heels.

    ....socks? No.
ive been to ones that gave flip flops for foot relief, that was nice.

I wouldnt EVER put on socks at a wedding reception. I typically take off my shoes and go barefoot. (Like if I don’t end the wedding barefoot, it probably wasn’t a good wedding haha). I slip back into shoes only to use the bathroom.

Socks are probably too slippery for a dance floor. ...unless you use like the hospital style ones with the slip grip on the bottom?

the other disadvantage is they absorb wetness, so if someone spills and steps in it, the socks are done

There is the option of slippers or keds. Doesn't have to be super expensive either.

I broke my ankle the day before Thanksgiving because I was wearing socks on tile. I am just now starting to walk again. Please don't do this, OP. It's not safe.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I won’t be doing socks. I will just hope that people will know to wear comfy shoes or go barefoot. I liked the sock idea because they were less than a dollar, but I didn’t think about slipping. I’ll be looking for a pair of flats for the reception because I cannot be barefoot. I might go with these even though they are darker than my pastel theme.

Flip flops definitely maybe check out Old Navy when they run their flip flop sale? (Depending on when the wedding is?). But I also think ladies will go barefoot a lot too if they need too it's not a big deal (I always end up without shoes lol!!)

Please don't do socks unless they have the grips on the bottom of them. We have been to weddings where they give flip flops and they were great.

Since we are having a winter wedding we are giving our guests ballet flats just in case they go outside in them their feet will still be covered. https://rescueflats.com/

I love the sock idea. It's a fun favor to take home too.

I love these shoes, they are so comfortable. I have them in I think 5 different colors. I wear them almost every day.
