Socially distanced activities (no dancing allowed)

Marissa, on June 9, 2020 at 1:19 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13
Hey everyone! We met with the coordinator from our reception venue & were told we could have a reception still but no dancing Smiley sad

Anyone have fun ideas to take up some reception time? My grooms coworkers love to go out to karaoke so we thought that could be an option.
Any other ideas?

Karaoke is a good idea, if you have a lot of wipes for the mic.

Also, games! Time to break out the trusty old bingo, but also trivia, and the shoe game, and all kinds of other fun group games. Simon Says at tables, Jeopardy, etc., etc.

Karaoke is such a good idea! I’ve seen that at weddings. Another thing is you could have an MC or someone host some games? For instance my husband and I along with two other couples were participating in a game basically the crowd chose who danced the best aha. If you socially distance the couples from one another that could work.

Good ideas! When you 1st mentioned the game with you & other couples, the Newlywed Game popped in my head. That'd be hilarious.

Yeah something like that would be good too! You guys could do it because couples or participants could be socially distanced while playing the games

Talk with your DJ or MC, they may have suggestions on how to keep your guests entertained.

Yard games is something else that comes to mind if your venue can accommodate.

If we were in this situation, we'd rent casino tables and have people spread out around the tables playing games for prizes.

Generally if there's no dancing, people chat. You could play games. Have board/card games. I wouldn't hire a dj if dancing isn't allowed since that would give off mixed signals to your guests. Just have a playlist running in the background.

We sadly already booked our DJ last year when we thought we'd be having our March wedding.

Maybe not your cup of tea, but how about make up an interactive game? My friend's wedding did a massive DnD based game can got all the guests their own dice set. It was super cool!

This is awesome, if you have any more details on how they did this I would love to know more. We are giving away sets of dice as our party favors and have a whole boardgame room set up. But if dancing is not allowed this would super cool to do. Actually our dungeon master is our officiant!

They did a game where you can level up based on your rolls. They had a deck of cards they made, and each player starts out with 5. The player draws from the deck, roles their dice, and the value of each dice is determined by the deck. If they beat a player, they steal one of their cards and level up. Only level 1s can play level 1s and etc. Eventually, only two people are left, and it is super fun.

That is awesome, we are already putting a bunch of game cards with simple rules for different games on each table along with a bowl of dice (that they will then take home). I will have to add this to the game pile!!
