We took our engagement photos on Jan 21 & already got them back this past week. I’m a little more than obsessed with how well they turned out.
I wasn’t originally planning on posting any on here, but I’ve noticed that no one’s really been sharing BAMs and engagement sessions as often as they used to before the updates. Plus I don’t think us West Coast couples get enough representation on here. So here we go. I apologize in advance if the mobile app screws up the formatting.
A few words of wisdom to anyone out there hesitant about taking theirs (because I was). We put them off since booking our photographer last August & honestly only took them because it was included in our package. I was really anxious leading up to it & spent weeks stressing. I’m really glad we did them though. It gave us an opportunity to spend some time with our wedding photog & get comfortable with her.
Best advice I have is to get your hair (& makeup if you can swing it) professionally done. Since we were going to be on the beach I was afraid of frizz or it going flat if I did it myself. So I got my hair washed & professionally styled beforehand, but I did my own makeup. It really solidified my decision to get both done for the wedding. I think my makeup turned out ok in the pics but it’s an added stressor I don’t want to deal with on the day of the wedding.
It was important to me that our photos felt like someone just followed us around on a normal type date we’d have. We took our photos in Newport Beach at the Balboa Fun Zone Ferris Wheel & under the Balboa Pier. It was 62 degrees with a little bit of cloud cover that didn’t lend to a great sunset but did allow amazing light. Our photographer is a natural light shooter so she said it actually worked out better that way.
