So my ceremony is going to be at a chapel, they do everything, the venue is beautiful, no problem there. But my "reception" is going to be a pool party and I'm planning on serving sandwich wraps, fruits and veggies, cake and refreshments.. well, my sister's keep yelling at me telling me I can't feed...

But my "reception" is going to be a pool party and I'm planning on serving sandwich wraps, fruits and veggies, cake and refreshments.. well, my sister's keep yelling at me telling me I can't feed my guest sandwiches and that I should be serving meat (bbq). I'm expecting around 60 people and it's just not in my budget with the expense of everything else. Am I wrong? Should I look into getting some other type of food?

Thank you everyone for all of your input. We are getting more sides and our groomsmens have offered to bring some dishes too. So that's a huge relief for us.

I think sandwiches are totally fine (but I'm having pizza at my reception so what do I know Smiley laugh ). A pool party reception sounds super fun, I want to come!

You can always hit up a store (Walmart, Costco, Wegmans, ect.) for some pre-made salads like macaroni, potato or pasta. They are normally fairly priced and very filling. Just put them into large decorative bowls if you don't want anyone to know it is store bought (Dollar Tree has some pretty/cheap ones).

When I think pool party, I think of fresh light foods anyways. Heavy meals normally lead to cramps.

Do what you are comfortable with, it is YOUR wedding. If you do not want to BBQ, then everyone else can lay off or front the time/money needed for it to happen.
