so our theme is fairy tale

kathleen, on August 23, 2013 at 9:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

My mom wanted to do like castle names from all over the world for table names but there has to be something that could be easier. How can I make the table names fairy tale theme and not have it be difficult.

That is such a fun theme :-) Maybe you could name them after towns or characters, could do couples - Cinderella and prince charming, Ariel and eric, Etc.- from movies. People might not recognize castles but for the most part everyone will remember the towns and definitely characters.

You could just do a simple number on a pretty background. You could do items though, like glass slipper, magic mirror, red's hood, frog prince, etc.

If your doing round tables with 7 people to a table.. so about 11 names needed. I like the theme though so cute and appropriate for a wedding.

You could do typical fairy tale sayings like "happily ever after" "riding off into the sunset" "prince charming" "dreams come true" ... 80 people will probably be about 10 tables.. I can't think of 10 saying right now though. I like halloweenbride's suggestion about the items

Lion King: Elephant Graveyard, Pride Rock, Pride lands

    Mulan: Shanghai Pass, Imperial City

    The Little Mermaid: Atlantica

    Aladdin: Cave of Wonders

Pocahontas: "The Willow Tree" (it was called something like that)

    Robin Hood: Sherwood Forest

There is a really pretty castle centerpiece at oriental trading (I believe there or stumps). You could also go with castles on some tables and carriages on others. I found really pretty carriages at hobby lobby. Keep searching online and at different stores and you may find castle centerpieces you love. I wanted castles and carriages but we will have 36 tables for 300 people so it would be too expensive.

Is your mom paying for the wedding? She shouldn't get to make the final say on something like that I wouldn't think. Personally I think that castle in the pic looks a little too much like a children's party and not a wedding. I like the idea of incorporating fairy tale towns, or items, like listed above. I hope your mom comes around and let's you decide what you want. It is your wedding after all and she should want you to be happy with decisions.

You could use the castles, but name each table after a different fairy tale - Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, the Little Mermaid, The Twelve Dancing Princesses, Rapunzel, The Frog Prince, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, The Princess and the Pea, and Rumplestilskin. They all have to do with castles in some way, so maybe you could have the castle on the table with a storybook, either real or just a fancy made up cover, with the title of each story on it. I love your theme. You can really have fun with it.
