Not quite. But that's the general dynamic of the town if you've seen Gilmore Girls.

I get to work today, and someone had already been in. Y'all, I dont have any plans to invite them to the wedding. This lady tried to throw me a bridal shower. And when my mom explained that I was only planning on having one, the lady mentioned that she and her daughter would love to come. [Regardless, I'm sticking to family only shower.]
I seriously feel like a jerk. But what!?! I kinda feel like I should try to squeeze these people in cuz that's super thoughtful... but I can't squeeze the whole town into my reception venue.

I think workplaces frequently have showers or celebrations for people getting married even knowing coworkers aren't invited. I've gone to celebrate a colleague who i knew I wouldn't be on the guest list but I wanted to wish them well. I wouldn't worry too much about that, if they want to fete you I wouldn't think theh are assuming they are invited.

Yeah. But she doesn't work with me. She's just another business owner in town.
And I feel like a town wide bridal shower seems nuts.

Wow, you DO live in Stars Hollow! I would personally very uncomfortable if anyone I wasn't REALLY close to wanted to throw me a shower (especially with guests I also wasn't close to) and I would just decline with thinks (declining as many times as I needed to; Stars Hollow citizens can be insistent).
