So, I failed at getting in shape...

Chris, on March 18, 2015 at 5:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 25

My goal was modest. I only wanted to lose about 5lbs so I didn't need to wear shapewear under my dress. I thought it would be easy because I've been training for my 2nd Dan test in April. Sadly, I injured my right shoulder last month and my left shoulder this month. *sigh* I haven't really been training, so my weight is holding steady. I go for my dress fitting in a week, so I am just gonna pull on the Spanx and call it a day.

*pulls out the violin and grabs cheese for my whine*

How is your everyday diet? Maybe cut out any drinks aside from water and do more veggies and less processed carbs before your fitting. Small changes can make all the difference :-)

Your fitting is soon but you still have time before your wedding to lose 5lbs. Drink lots of h20 and cut out sodium between now and the fitting. Spanx are terrible, don't do it. You'll have swamp ass all day

5 lbs? Lol, if you only need to lose 5 lbs you probably don't actually need the Spanx....just sayin.

I agree 5 lbs wouldnt have made that big of a difference. But what the heck, if you feel better for wearing the spanx, pull those bad boys up and enjoy your food that day! :-)

I don't know what it is but the term is hilarious.

Five pounds; cut out sugar, excessive carbs, salt and drink LOTS of water.

Eat lots of foods with potassium in it, it will help counteract bloating caused by sodium... lots of water!!

and I believe swamp ass would refer to sweaty gross-ness that make accumulate/arise from wearing spanx all day

I didn't realize swamp ass is not a nationally recognized term! Swamp ass is a delicate term for butt sweat Smiley smile

Plus, just go for walks outside! you don't need your shoulders for that... you can still have mild exercise Smiley smile but hitting up the wine and cheese will literally only make your problem worse. (Although it is more fun)

I love it and it is now my new second most favorite word... second only to Twatwaffle.

    Thanks, ladies.

I'm pretty short. For me 5lbs is about 1.5 inchs off my hips and 1 inch off my waist. It definitely would make a difference in how my dress falls on me.

My diet is already pretty good. I rarely drink pop, eat tons of fruits and veggies, stay away from excessive carbs, etc. I'd have to do something drastic to lose weight, like a liquid diet, and I'm just not feeling it right now.

@Sarah Our office is piloting a desk with a treadmill. We can reserve up to an hour a day, so I've been using that. It's pretty neat and has helped me to not gain any weight.

    and LMAO at "swampbutt"

Liquid diets are the worst. You'd just be hangry for a few days then go on a binge.... or maybe that's just how it's gone for me...

5 lbs is tough on a smaller frame but totes do-able in 2 months! You can do it!

If not, not biggie. You can def rock spanx if you'll feel more confident. I just hate them with a fiery passion.

    @ FutureMrsDowney

That's how liquid diets go for me, too. I could do it just for my dress fitting and work to maintain that weight until the wedding...but the urge to binge would be very real.

I don't care for them either, that's why I wanted to lose the weight...LOL. Those things are the devil.

I got a dress with a corset back just because I didn't want to wear spanx... #priorities!

You'll have to let us know how the fitting goes! Get on chugging that water Smiley smile

I'm 5'2 and 5 pounds on me makes no difference so unless you're only 4 feet tall the 5 doesn't matter. Don't worry. But you can lose it simply as the others have said. Egg whites, greens, chicken and citrus fruits for 2/3 days plus plenty of water and it will be gone.

How about a spirulina and/or fiber supplement? Can help flush out excess stuff in your system without going to any crazy extremes.

I wanted to lose 30 pounds in 2 years. Sounds reasonable, right? Well I've gained about 2 pounds and have under 7 months until our wedding. I wanted to lose weight to get in shape and healthy. Not just for a wedding. But I just can't stop eating stuff. I'm not full when I eat healthy so I get snacks. And I drink at least 3 tumblers of water at work and at least 2 glasses at home. I take the stairs. I just can't make good choices :/

I will be wearing spanx - it won't be too bad! My dress is a backless satin sheath, and I'm happy with my arms, but it's pretty unforgiving in the stomach. I would like the extra smoothing. It's part of the reason celebrities look so great!

@Robin, I am 5'2" as well and 5lbs makes a difference on me. That's why it was my goal, lol. What you mentioned is basically my current diet. Alas, there's nothing else for me to cut out. The lack of physical activity is what's holding me back. But, I will definitely try not to worry about it. I have to get some more low-impact activity in somehow.

@714, I hadn't thought about that. I will look into it.

@Pancakes, *hugs* It is hard to make good choices. It took me years to finally cut out pasta and most bread, even though I knew it caused me to gain weight. My weakness is going out to eat for lunch. I've been keeping that in check for a few months now, but some days I want to run out and get some Thai sooooo bad. Hopefully you'll find that balance soon!

@MG, celebs have a whole team dedicated to making them look good. If only us regular folks were so lucky!

I agree with Sarah B. go for walks! Even just 3 thirty min walks a week will help you lose those extra 5 pounds. When I first lost my huge weight of 55 pounds I focused on portions and cardio. Now when I gain that extra 5-10 pounds I go back to watching my portions and add cardio to my weekly schedule.
