S'mores bar

Morgan, on July 19, 2018 at 12:58 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11

Just wondering if anyone else did a s'mores bar. If you did, what did you have for options and how did you figure out how many supplies to get? How many people did you have? TIA

    S'mores bar 1

We are but our venue sets ours up for us and supplies everything so we don't have to figure it out. But it looks like this! And they have multiple types of graham crackers, and dark chocolate, white chocolate, and milk chocolate, then flavored marshmallow squares like mint, strawberry, chocolate and regular. I'd say if you were supplying the materials yourself I'd buy enough for 2 s'mores each person, unless you have big eaters.... I ate like 4 or 5 at our tasting LOL but some guests might not want any or so factoring 2 per person would probably work out

We had one. It was great and was the one thing I really wanted. We used regular graham crackers, but had an assortment of chocolate and bar. The normal Hershey's, but also Reese's, dark chocolate, chocolate with mint, caramels, different flavors of marshmallows, several different flavors of Ghirardelli candies, some chocolates with alcohol flavors/centers. I'm pretty sure there were a few other selections that I can't remember right now. We had 178 guests. We let our caterer calculate the amount of ingredients needed and we got the leftovers (not much) to eat later. They were fabulous at the wedding and later in the fall.

We did a s'mores bar through our caterer. We had graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolate bars, and reeses peanut butter cups. If I were buying all the stuff myself I might have included Nutella, chocolate graham crackers with white chocolate. We only had 22 guests, and the caterers figured out how much of each thing to get, so I am not much help there.

I think it is a great idea as long as you realize how terribly messy it can be!

Yes I want to do one by the fire pit (diy style) and maybe do jars to keep things fresher. The last wedding I went to did two s’mores per baggie for favors but u could tell they did them ahead of time since they were a little stale.

So 2 things. First it depends on when you will have this out. For late night snacks our venue told us to plan for about 40% of your guests as some will leave before they come out and some still won't have any. If its earlier than obviously you may need more. But either way I wouldn't assume everyone is having a bunch. Maybe 1 per person and assume those that have 2 make up for those that dont have any???

2nd - if it's a firepit just be careful of the weather. We never thought about it for my fbils wedding and they had smores and a bon fire. But it ended up being 97 degrees (may in MN not expected). Needless to say there was no fire and therefore no smores got eaten.

However I LOVE some s'mores so I'm all for leftovers!
