Small wedding party stand or sit during reception?

Andrea, on May 5, 2021 at 11:39 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

I'm getting married in a few weeks and we're having a small wedding - 18 guests total, and we each only have a MOH and best man, with no other members in the wedding party. Question is, should we have our wedding party stand next to us or sit during the ceremony? A lot of "microwedding" pics I'm seeing online solely show the bride and groom standing at the altar with nobody else with them. Thank you!!

Likely that the couples in the pictures chose no attendants. I would personally expect the attendants to stand traditionally regardless of guest count. It’s personal preference.

Sometimes the wedding party is seated during small weddings because it looks imbalanced to have 10 people standing at the altar and 20 people in the audience. Since you only have 1 person each, I don't think this will be the case! It's up to you.

Our wedding party isn't standing with us because that's not how it's done in our tradition. So do whatever you want. I think 2 people standing with you isn't unbalanced or anything

It's totally up to you! I don't think it will feel imbalanced with your guests if they stand next to you, but they can also sit down if you prefer that look!! Smiley heart
