Small Wedding on a budget

Zoey, on March 30, 2020 at 12:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hi everyone! This is my first post here! My FH and I would like a very small wedding with just our immediate family and very close friends. We've decided to not have bridesmaids/groomsmen/etc. So that we can save some money and be able to afford what is truly important to us on our big day such as a photographer my wedding dress and a venue we both like. We're only looking to spend at most $4000 for everything altogether. My side of the family is very traditional with a big wedding and the works but we simply can't afford it and we don't mind having a small wedding anyways. I'd like some suggestions on how I might word invitations so that it's clear that it will be very low key but still a "wedding"? Does anyone have some ideas?

On another note we've also discussed food and how we should go about catering for about 40 people. Honest opinions- would event catering from Azteca frowned upon? Or a potluck dinner? Other suggestions are very appreciated!
Thank you!

Event catering i don't think will be frowned on but one thing i might suggest to you is maybe try looking at restaurants with private rooms? 40 people isn't a ton of people so there may be restaurants that could accommodate that.

I have a similar guest count and budget... IDK where you’re located but I can tell you that the venue is the hardest to find. After months of looking, I chose a restaurant that had a private dining room. Haven’t been quoted for food and beverage... but I told them $50 per person is my max for 50 people (plus tax). Unfortunately, that’s about half my budget... so I’m DIYing floral arrangements/stationary ($300), renting a few decorative pieces ($300), Spotify playlist, renting the tux ($150), StillWhite for the dress, blessed with family who can do photography and hair/makeup. Even with all these changes, I wish I could bring my costs down.
As for your food, you shouldn’t worry about it. I’m getting my cake and cupcakes from the local grocery store ($120).

We’re doing the same but with approximately 25 guests. I’ve described it as an “intimate wedding.” We’re having our ceremony at an Airbnb and dinner/reception at a venue that also has a cafe/bakery that closes in the afternoon that they can accommodate up to 35 guests, so all-in-all it’s perfect! 😊

An "intimate wedding", I love that! We've found a tiny local chapel for just $500 for the whole day and will be holding it there!
