Small wedding of Immediate family vs. Big wedding

So we can't decide what we want to do. Family alone would be almost 180 people. That's grandparents, siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. The price of a big wedding is a little overwhelming. It would be no less than $6,000 and that's as cheap as we could do it. Not including dress...

Im just scared that I will regret having just an immediate family wedding. And I know it would pry make some of my family members unhappy. But I have a hard time justifyin spending that much money for one day. Pros and cons of both??

The budget for my wedding is $3000... We are doing some things that are frowned upon here (like an appetizer only reception, which works better with a guest list like ours with mostly locals who can eat lunch before they come) but that are very common in my area. We are DIYing a lot and we have to be flexible with floral and decoration. We did not rent an expensive venue, only a church that charges basically the cost of electricity we will use for the time we are there... Hosting 180 people on $6000 requires several factors to be in place- you and your FI and anyone contributing financially have to be flexible on just about everything, you have to have a guest list mostly comprised of people who are ok with simple everything- no fancy photo booth, a grocery store cake (don't get a crappy cake just to be cheap. There are good grocery store cakes, usually from local stores.) etc. And you need a lot of luck- no matter how hard you look, most brides won't find the deal I found for a dress that is almost being given away bc previous owner doesn't realize how simple it is to clean at home., and you need the humility to look and look and look for deals and second-hand bargains. Some people call it cheap. I call it frugal. If you're trying to put together that size of a wedding on that budget, you will find better advice and more support in a forum of frugal brides, here you will just be shot down.

ETA: one option for smaller wedding that can still involve people- livestream the wedding. Let everyone know when you will be streaming it, and run some of the comments during the reception.

Nikki-no woman(or man) here will 'shoot you down' for having a small budget. We like women to be realistic with what their small budget will get them.

Realistically speaking 6k will not properly host a guest list of 180 people.

We are spending 9k on food and drink for 100! I know that's certainly not cheap...But it also isn't expensive...
