Slow Songs

Veronica, on March 22, 2019 at 11:38 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8

There are a lot of slow songs I like for our wedding, but my fiance does he doesn't want their to be too many. What would you consider a practical number of slow songs?

We're doing one slow song per hour!

I'm leaving it up to the DJ. If people are dancing to slow songs and not faster ones he can play maybe 2-3 an hour. If no one is dancing to them more like 1 an hour. I don't mind slow songs to sing along to or to just listen so I have no set numbers. I think I'd rather have something slow while eating than something just super upbeat.

I would say 2-3 per hour - unless like PP's said, if no one is dancing to them then we can cut them back. I just want the DJ to really read the room and create the flow.

Haha we had open dancing from 2:30-6:30 and literally played one slow song per our request. I picked the song and it was captured by our photographer so that was nice

We are going to do 2/hour between 7 and 9 since that's when the older crowd will be there (and my grandmother has made mention of a number of wedding that 'didn't have enough slow songs') then we will probably do 1 in the 10 o'clock hour and none between then and 12:30 when the reception ends.

I am confused on this one too! Because the first two hours of the reception will include all the typical stuff, bridal party entrance, first dance, dinner, speeches, father/daughter, mother/son, generation dance, cake cutting, bouquet/garter toss, so really that only leaves the last 2 hours of open dancing. I picked three slow songs to play for these two hours, and then there will also be the generation dance for married couples...
