slips

Kris, on July 8, 2020 at 7:28 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 17

I'm thinking about buying a slip for my a-line dress to make it a little puffier. What success/issues have people had with slips????? Pros/cons??

I got one for my fit and flare dress from amazon. It shipped quickly and is decent quality. Nothing spectacular but to wear once or twice it’s fine. And it wasn’t expensive, less than $20 I think and it added just enough flare to my dress. I wore it almost all day and it was comfortable.

I ordered mine from Etsy, it is super great quality and I was very happy.

A regular slip might not make a difference. Check out a hoop skirt crinoline on Etsy which will add poof. I can't imagine them being very expensive either (under $50)

I bought a poofier slip for my A-line which was recommended by Cocomelody but I found it more poof than I wanted lol so I went with a standard slip after all.

I got a petticoat slip for under my A-line dress and it was LIFE CHANGING let me tell you!! I am typing this on my computer so I'll have to post the picture from the app later. When I picked out my dress at Davids the sample dress had a broken zipper and was a little too big so it didn't fit correctly, and then at my alterations appointment with my actual dress, it fit perfectly but just didn't look as good as I had hoped. Then i added a petticoat and TOTALLY finished the LOOK and I almost cried because for months I had been so anxious and self conscious about the dress, and I ended up not even adding sleeves like I was going to because it made me feel so much better. Plus it took down the costs of hemming a bunch off! I would suggest trying one on for sure, it adds drama and makes it look fancier!

    Here you go!

Before Slip: just kinda hung there, lots of fabric dragging.slips 3After petticoat Slip: poofed up and a lot easier to walk in, drama factor totally up!

Fyi my petticoat was $80, so a little pricey, but i had a veil i decided to return that they put towards my slip so i spend only $30!

Hmmm you already have quite a few layers, so it's possible you could get away with not having one, but it all depends on how much POOF you want! Maybe a one layer slip to male it all poof out in the same shape?

Thanks! Now that you’ve posted pics I like the fullness your dress has already without one. I personally would get it hemmed and wear it as is.
