Slip under the dress?

Aqualeo, on January 6, 2017 at 11:45 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Hello!

When I went to buy my dress the woman told me I will need to wear a tight fitting slip under my dress. Is this something most people do or is it unnecessary?

Most women wear a crinoline or a hoop; sometimes a slip. What style of dress are you wearing?\

A crinoline is pretty hot and can be really scratchy--I bought one and traded it in for a hoop later because the hoop was so much cooler...but a hoop can be a touch awkward from what I understand, if you're dancing.

A regular slip is to basically protect the dress from your sweat, and protect you from getting scratched if there's crinoline on the inside of the dress.

Here is my dress. It fits tighter on me than this model because I'm short and hippy.

She had me in a really tight fitting pencil skirt type slip and said I needed it so the dress wouldn't ride up. Was just wondering if they were just trying to sell me more stuff or if it's necessary.

Also I felt like you could see where it was through the dress.

Hmmm if it's super tight it might try and ride up without a slip but I don't know. I DO know that you should wear something that comes down almost to the bottom of the dress so that you don't get bridal wedgie (your dress tucking itself between your legs).

Oh no bridal wedgie! lol I don't want that! Maybe that's what she meant then. Maybe I can find a looser fitting one then.

@Aqualeo I tried to find a picture of bridal wedgie, but nothing came up that wasn't the traditional wedgie... But yeah, I HATE when skirts cave between my legs, bugs the fuck out of me

It's more of shapewear than a slip, it's to keep everything nice and smooth and in its place. There is no shame in a good set of spanx, they can be beneficial to virtually every body type

I think it depends on the dress and what you like best. Also yes I'm a huge fan of spanks. I would say the answer to your question is yes, do wear a slip.

    Like this?? Lol

Yeah maybe I'll just get the slip. It was a grippy kind of material I guess so the dress sticks to it.

@blair yes it was also acting like shapewear but it was just longer like to my knees. No shame I'll take any help I can get!
