Slim gown petticoat ?

Like a mermaid style gown? Or are you talking about a column/sheath style? I don't know if you can get a slip for a sheath dress that wouldn't show. Do you have a picture of the dress?

View Quoted Comment Yes a picture of the dress would be great. I also wanted a little puff so I bought a crinoline and tried it with my dress but it was too full so i had my seamstress take the hoop out and it was perfect. The 1st pic is without the hoop the 2nd pic was with it.

That almost looks like my dress. I'm going to follow this cause I'm thinking the exact same thing. I havent taken it in for alterations yet. Maybe she will be able to suggest what I should use.
