Slide Shows

Hi there, I'm looking for some ideas for slide shows during the reception. 1. Just use PowerPoint? Or something else? 2. Use it to intro the bridal party only? Or some type of appreciation for parents? ("benefactors" who funded the wedding itself)

How many of you have done a slideshow where you got good feedback from a sizable portion of your guests?

    ^^ I don't think that's ever happened.

The problem is, even when someone tries to do one well... like, 1% of the population can do a good one. Most of the time it's bad auto transitions (checkerboard vertical, anyone?)

My litmus test is if you don't know what program to do it in.... then you probably shouldn't do it.

There is a program called Fantashow that I used to put our slideshow together. I have it seperated at the beginning of both of us as children, us growing up and in high school/college, then just pictures of our relationship over the years. Definitely needs to only be 5-6 min though. I plan on having it at the front of our reception area so guests can watch as they want. Our venue actually includes equipment for a slideshow though, if they didn't i would not have considered making one. At least this gives people something to do besides drink as they wait a few minutes for us to arrive.

Powerpoint is good. I had that on my wedding reception too... Make sure to collect previous photos of the both of you and just make a little twist and collages it's gonna be cool.

@Jessica My dad is a computer tech, so he was able to do it well. Everyone LOVED my sisters power point. They used funny pictures of them throughout the year so it was entertaining... I am having a beach ceremony, if you have a smaller wedding you can do a photo book. My dad is going to get on shutterfly to order a hardback book full of our photos to leave on a table at the reception so guest can look if they want. Then when the wedding is over FH and I have a wonderful keepsake!

I think this is another case where no one cares as much as you do....

You need to make the slideshow optional. I went to a wedding where it was mandatory. Like everything shut down and everyone had to watch it for 15 minutes before dinner. Either have it playing while bride and groom are eating and before speeches so people can look if they choose or during cocktail hour.

Having a slide show put together of infancy to adulthood for both my FH and I. We plan to play it before the ceremony, while guests are sitting around with little to do, waiting for the ceremony to actually start.

We are having a slide show during our rehearsal dinner. The dinner is on an outside patio of a restaurant we reserved for our group (40 people), and it's a buffet, very casual. So I'm hoping that guests will be milling around, and if they want to pause to watch it they can, if not, they can continue milling about! I made it with iMovie on my Mac

I had a friend load a digital frame and leave it on the bar, off to the side (not where drinks were ordered but still central enough). People could watch if they wanted to but weren't forced to.
