Sky Lantern alternative

FutureMrsTurcios, on April 13, 2016 at 4:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

I really would like to do amid celebration or end-of-celebration activity. My original idea was to do a sky lantern release like in the movie Tangled (being as that is our theme). However, the venue we are looking into will not allow them. I've thought about maybe doing a balloon release with maybe an LED light inside to make them look like the lanterns but I'm not sure if the venue will approve. Any other alternative ya'll might be able to suggest that will slightly resemble the lanterns in Tangled?

Please don't do balloons, they are dangerous to birds and animals, who tend to do things like eat them or get tangled in them. Don't do balloons.

If the venue won't allow lantern releases, I doubt they will allow balloon releases. Both are incredibly harmful to our environment. Please don't do either. There are many ways to incorporate Tangled into a reception without killing harmless animals.

Can you something like sparklers instead? If they don't allow lanterns, it's a fire hazard probably so I can't imagine anything else being allowed. We were only allowed confetti and flower petals at ours.

Could you do ribbons and flags like when she first entered the city?

Could you do floating lanterns as part of your decor so you could still incorporate it? Just not the release part?

    Also, I just love Tangled.

Ribbon wands with gold or silver tinsel look like sparklers.

We are having lanterns all over the grounds lining walkways, outdoor staircases etc. also sparklers and ribbon wands would make a beautiful send off. Or does your venue have a pond? If there are no animals in the pond and or pool you could do floating candles. Ours has an empty pond with a fountain but they are shutting off the fountain and putting in candles.

Also, it's not just the venue, sky lanterns are illegal across the united states since they can potentially (and have) started fires. They're considered to be in the same category as fireworks. I would just try to reflect sky lanterns and lights in your decor. I can't think of a comparable alternative.

I was going to say what @Mrstobe said. You can have paper lanterns on the ground and they look really beautiful. Don't release anything that can harm the environment. Its not right. And probably not legal (which is why the venue said no lanterns)

The heat from the candle is what makes them rise so the LED angle won't work.

You could use the balloons with LED lights in them. Just use string to anchor them so they appear to be floating and you don't release them. Or, Maybe try releasing doves.
