Skipping Paper Invites

Joneka, on September 5, 2020 at 8:09 PM Posted in Planning 1 16
Hey ladies,

Are you skipping paper invites and only sending evites, email, text messages, wedding website information?
I found a cheap invite and was thinking have a few printed for our elderly relatives and one for the photographer to photograph.

I’d probably lean more towards sending invites still! It’s nice for guests. I’m pretty young and tech savvy and for the last four or five weddings I went to I brought the invitation with me as I was traveling so it was nice to have a hard copy of the address and wedding websites. We got our invites from Costco and they were pretty cheap and looked nice! I think 14 dollars for 50?

I did paper invites. It's exciting to receive something in the mail. Though I had set up an RSVP option on our website along with a mail in RSVP. I've received more paper RSVP than electronic, which is suprising. Paper invites is something they physically have, can keep, and to post up on a fridge to visually remind guests of the date. I put our website on the save the dates, RSVP card, and detail cards which was sent with the paper invites. With email invites, they could get sent to junk/spam folder or accidentally deleted.

I found some cheap ones 50% off at hobby lobby. I would still need to get them printed.

Dang it, I see your point of physically having and invite.

Ah! I can see how evited would be easy for a smaller number, but going all out for the big wedding.

I actually diy’ed about 100 pepper invitations and then literally two days after I was done, we decided to down size and change all our wedding plans due to this stupid corona situation 🙄 we changed the date from October to September (literally a few weeks ago) and reduced our guest list from 150 to 40 and the majority of the guest are our bridal party (the rest are both of our families) so we just sent them evites. Depending on how formal/informal you are trying to be with your guest, I would still send physical ones. But if it’s more of an intimate or less formal, nothing wrong with e vites. I think having a few printed for older/less tech savvy guest and also for a keepsake is a good idea too!

Oh no! I'm sorry you had done so much work and had to suddenly change plans.

I thought about investing in printer so could DIY (also it would be helpful to print my son's homework since he is in virtual Kindergarten).

We’re sending physical invitations but skipping RSVP cards and all other inserts. We don’t have a lot of older guests, and we’ll save a lot by not having them mail something back to us. They’ll be RSVPing on our website which also has all of the other information they need about the wedding.

I say go for it! You could also design invites in canva for free and have them printed or design something in the many apps and have them printed at fed ex. We printed on our printers and just added vellum paperwork wrap them in , they were so pretty 😩 but for the low lol.. I’m sad no one ever got to see them lol

If you’re a diy bride with a lot of projects to do, a printer is a must. And like you said, it will have many uses afterwards so it’s a good investment over all. Here’s the invite i printed/ diyed. I’m thinking of using the same concept for our menu cards Skipping Paper Invites 1
    Skipping Paper Invites 2

I thought about online evites. Being we are having over 100 guests I chose to do paper invites through the mail to set tone of our wedding. To cut cost I included our wedding wire web address on the invites for guests to RSVP.

Even though the post office is insane right now with delivery backups and some things getting lost, it's not forever, and it is always fun and more formal to get an actual invite in the mail, regardless of age.
You could easily have a website with your details listed on a save the date, and a variety of reply options, be it paper, text or website.

Even though we as a society are dependent on technology, there's an air of formality that email doesn't have with a wedding invite.
In the end it's personal preference.
We're having paper invites (and map inserts) but having a website with the option to reply via reply card, text or online.

I'm still sending paper invites in the mail. Hopefully the USPS don't lose them. It just seems classier and I know a lot of my older relatives aren't that tech savvy, and would expect a more formal paper invite.
