Skip the mother and son dance?

Ashley, on May 26, 2018 at 9:12 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

Is it common in a wedding that mother and son dance is skipped?

I think tons of people don't even do the dances. But ours will be. We're doing our dance but that's it

I'm trying to do the mother and son dance at the same time as the father and daughter dance. I always find it boring at weddings to watch one dance followed by the other

I think it's completely up to you, your FH and your parents whether you do the dances or not. I don't think it's strange if you do them or don't do them.

I am more concerned that no one is going to dance...we will dance but no one else...

I’ve never seen it skipped. But I’ve mainly been to more traditional weddings. You do you!

Many mothers look forward to the mother - son dance. Ask. One way to get people on the dance floor is for the B&G and VIPs to dance. If I'm a guest at a wedding and they aren't dancing, I wonder if the guests are even welcome on the dance floor.

We’re not having a father daughter or a mother son. My dad walked out when I was 10, his mom passed away suddenly right after we got engaged. Easier just to chop the whole idea.

We didn't do parent dances. But we did invite everyone to join us after about 30 seconds into our first dance and that helped get people on the dance floor.

I personally really dislike parent dances, so we are skipping them. Most of the weddings I've been to did not have mother-son dances.

Just left a wedding where the bride danced with her father, then two other men who were huge in her life. The groom didn’t dance with his mom. Wasn’t weird or anything. It’s totally fine.

It’s fine to skip whatever you want to skip. We didn’t do parent dances. None of the parents were keen on them and I agree, they get to be boring for guests.
