Skin Care

What's everyone doing for skin care before the big day? I'm two months away and my acne is at its all time worst! I can't seem to get it under control. Anyone have any tips and tricks?

Go to a dermatologist! I’ve been having acne issues since my OBGYN switched up my birth control pill. I’m now on an IUD (minimal hormones), but the acne is still there. My dermatologist prescribed me a topical cream that’s been helping so much. It dried out my skin like crazy at first but now the acne is going away. I’d say it took a month or so to normalize; so make an appointment soon!

Dermatologist definitely, maybe a facial as well but the drama will help more

Dermatologist. And drink loads of water, minimise sugar, and I know this is hard, but try to wear as little makeup as possible even though you want to cover it up.

I have suffered from acne since I was 13. I just starting doing this 2 weeks ago and its have been amazing.

I starting taking Vitamin A and Zinc.

I saw a Youtube video about it and started researching it. My mom asked if I was pregnant because my skin has cleared in 2 weeks. I noticed a difference in 4 days.

The dermatologist will always be the best option, but I heard so much about Curology. Might be worth trying, I've seen the results that close friends had, but I never tried it. I do love La Roche Posey Effaclar products. I use it for years and it does keep the acne away. I started using Clarisonic everyday and I love it.

I started taking Alani Nu Balance daily vitamins about a week ago, I haven't seen results yet but I assume I will after a month or so. I'd suggest getting a facial or chemical peel now or early next month. I'd also develop a consistent thorough skincare routine. In the morning, I use a foaming cleanser, toner, moisturizer & eye cream. In the evening, I use a cleanser, toner, serum, & moisturizer. I exfoliate in the shower, mask on Sundays, and wash my face immediately after working out. I don't wear makeup very much, disinfect my phone weekly, sleep on a silk pillowcase, avoid touching my face, wash our sheets weekly, and change my bath towel every 2-3 days. I also drink a TON of water. I went to a dermatologist who gave me RetinA for spot treatment, they weren't super helpful but at least I have that for major breakouts. I've also been going to a spa and getting facials, microneedling, microdermabrasion, chemical peeling and will go for botox, oxygen facial, and dermaplaning before the wedding.

I was disappointed with mine. I did it for 3 months and didn't see any improvement, I actually felt like my skin was too dry and breaking out more.

Were you disappointed with Effaclar or Clarisonic? Effaclar did make my skin dry in the beginning. It was dry but had no acne, so I continued and it got a lot better. Their gel cleanser, spot treatment and tonic still works wonders for my skin. Sorry you had trouble with that. I do change my moisturizer for fall/winter because I feel that my skin needs a richer moisturizer. As of Clarisonic, I use it once a day (with the Effaclar cleanser) for a deep clean and I am having no problem with it. I guess it is all about paying attention for what your body (or skin) asks.

Sorry! I meant Curology. I haven't tried either of the others.

Oh! I never personally tried Curology but friends have and it did work for them. They never mentioned about side effects. It doesn't mean that they didn't have any, just that nothing was mentioned. I still think a dermatologist is the best option. At least we know it is safer.

Have you tried visiting the dermatologist? My dermatologist was so helpful when it came to my face because I’ve tried so many different creams and washes but nothing was working until I sought help from them. I use Sephora brand facial masks and Chanel moisturizers from Nordstrom as well.

My dermatologist recommended using Cerave products because they’re really good for not clogging your pores up. I use a wash/exfoliant from there and their PM moisturizer, Target carries a ton of options. I also have peach fuzz on my cheeks which was causing my acne for 2+ years, which I didn’t know could happen, so I use a women’s hair trimmer for that and it works wonders!

Rodan and Fields and Differen sets worked for me and I've had acne for ages. Definitely start now though because both have a bit of a purging time before it gets better. I've been on differen a full month and I'm clear. Rodan and Fields takes the same amount of time.
