Skiing in northeast 2022

Deanna, on April 12, 2021 at 1:02 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 6
Has anyone done a ski trip honeymoon in Vermont? I had pictured a ski in ski out type of place but the budget is getting tight. Should I contact a travel agent? We would be driving from Florida to Vermont in jan/Feb for our honeymoon. Any suggestions or ideas?

    HI! New Englander here!

Stowe is one of the best, and it's close by to Burlington for lots of off mountain things to do. Killington is also a nice one. but both of these are super popular so they might be super busy.

If you have a large budget, I would HIGHLY recommend the Hermitage at Haystack. It's a private resort, so you'd need to get a membership, but holy exclusivity batman.

Due to COVID restrictions this past winter, there was a ton of limitations in skiing; half day only passes, closed lodges, all around ruined fun, and weekend passes sold out weeks and even months in advance. If possible, I would recommend buying your lift tickets AS SOON as they are available wherever you end up choosing. Also finding a spot that has attractions outside of the lodge, because they may be limited in what they offer. but all in all, VT is the best! awesome choice

THANK YOU SOOO much I will most definitely check that out! Another one I had seen quite a bit was Jay Peak? But I’m hoping by 2022 most places *should* be back to normal!!!

How much skiing are you planning to do? Stowe is always a safe choice since the town is great but I found it to be a bit small (depend on who I talk to). If you are an active/advance skiier, Killington or Sugarbush are good bets. Killington is one of the largest ski resorts in the NE while Sugarbush has more varied terrains IMO and the town is more quaint.

I’m from Vermont originally, although I currently live in VA and miss skiing!!!!! I totally second Haystack and Killington! I also love Mount Snow!!! That’s close to where I grew up and Bromley is also great too. If you are not hung up on Vermont exclusively, White Face in Lake Placid, NY is one of my FAVORITE skiing resorts, along with Belleayre in the Catskills! Adirondacks, NY also have multiple skiing resorts in NY and VT that are all drivable for different experiences each day!! Let me know if you need any more advice!!!! Smiley smile

2 things that make a difference: we know how to clear a road here- unlike small resort areas to the south, where lack of a plow will keep you waiting to get to the resort, NH/ VT get you moving up here. ***2 You can stay in one place but take a few single or multiple day trips to nearby resorts. So booking busy weekend times, and leaving midweek open works. Because things are close up here. Montreal is 200 more or less from NH Mtns like Loon, 100 from Jay Peak. So in addition to playing the weather for when and where to ski, Montreal is a great city. There are a few ice festivals and big events, check, but mostly it is a nice city. ski a morning, run up, back on the slopes the next afternoon. Small towns of S Quebec are very different from our side of the border. An international city. Keep it in mind when looking at non- ski places. or run up from Montreal to Mont Tremblant and ski your way down in 100 mile or less bites.
