Ski Resort Honeymoon!

Kelsea, on May 13, 2016 at 2:49 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 10

My fiancé and I really want to go to a ski resort for our honeymoon since I've only seen snow once and he's never seen it. Where do you guys recommend going?

When you go, do you plan on skiing? Just want to throw that out there as something to think about, because you don't necessarily need to go to a ski resort to see snow in January Smiley winking

If you aren't going to ski or snowboard, you can just go somewhere that will have snow and be normal tourists.

Heading to Canada in January could be cool!!! Right now (can't say for Jan 2018) the Canadian dollar is pretty weak compared to the American $, so your money would go a lot further. You will find a ton of resorts in BC (whistler, etc). You could fly to Toronto and do city stuff.. from there you could also drive to Niagara Falls (which is actually gorgeous in the winter)and you could also drive up to Blue Mountain's resort which is just beautiful!

USA.. Colorado is always nice. I went to Breckenridge this past Christmas and it was lovely. Although, I had my first experience with altitude sickness and wasn't feeling good. It was really weird!!! It may or may not affect you, but could be worse depending on where you live.

    Hi hi!

We live in CO. I'll give a brief rundown of CO resorts & mountains:

What type of vibe do you want in the ski town? What is your budget?

    Classy:

Vail: expensive town area and hotels. But if you want a high in resort this is the place.

Aspen : Beauitful!! Lift tickets here are super expensive though!

Beaver Creek: my personal fav (where else does everyone wear head to toe fur & there are escalators to the ski lift)

Super nice ritz Carlton here - bachelor gulch.

Breckenridge: cute ski town with lots of stuff for tourists / good food. Mountains are good here too!

Keystone: a little bit more locals

A basin: party mountain for locals

Winter Park: family friendly ski resort town. This is nice for budgets

Pagogsa springs / wolf creek: great snow! This is more a local spot. Hard to get to.

Eldora: closest mountain to Boulder co. If you stayed in Boulder you could have a nice balance of good food, nice hotel but it's not a ski resort

Telluride : great skiing! Hard to get too!

Crested butte: cute ski town! Good skiing! More price friendly than the vail route

Steamboat : also a fun trip!

I missed some too like copper, Loveland, monarch... Needless to say lots of skiing in Colorado.

If you have a budget I can steer you towards a general direction.

My fiancé and I live in Florida..and I didn't even think about the altitude sickness. That's a huge difference in altitude for us lol. We both want to take lessons but we don't want our entire honeymoon to revolve around skiing..maybe sledding or tubing. We are Florida babies so the cold is a big change for us.

Whistler Village is a great place for what you're wanting. There's the Scandinave Spa, beautiful hotels with great honeymoon packages, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, other spas, great restaurants, and it is so pretty when it snows. Also during the summer! There's a lot of options providing entertainment or relaxation.
