Sixpence Shoe Dilemma

Ella, on June 27, 2017 at 9:59 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

I was recently gifted a sixpence by a family member to put in my shoe for my wedding. I would love to take part in this tradition, but I already purchased my wedding shoes, and they are heeled sandals. Anyone else encounter this? Any suggestions how to keep the sixpence in there? I was thinking I would only have it in there for the ceremony and remove it for the reception/dancing.

Tape it into the shoe just for the ceremony?

I know someone who hot glued her sixpence onto the bottom. On the arch, where it wouldn't make her slip.

Put it under the ball of your foot? I only kept mine in for the ceremony!

I either used double sided tape, or prestik .. I can't remember. But it stayed in place perfectly.

Ok, thanks all! i was thinking about taping it but was worried it would come loose.

@carousel, do you know if the hot glue damaged it at all? i like that idea, but this is something a few other brides have used so i don't want to destroy it.

Glue or use tape to the bottom.

@Ella the coin, or the shoe? I don't know for sure either way, but I think she wanted the sixpence to stay on her wedding shoes forever... part of the keepsake.

@carousel i meant the coin. it is a family heirloom and there is another bride planning to use it next year.

I'm using medical tape as it stays better if my feet get sweaty

Tape it to the arch of the shoe. it won't bug you and they shouldn't see it

I hot glued mine to the bottom of my shoe on the arch where it would stay and not get messed up

I used double sided tape and had it under my arch where I didn't even notice it, and it stayed put the whole night.
