Sitting alone?

Laura, on November 1, 2024 at 8:42 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 2

Our son asked his dad to be his best man but that leaves me wondering where I (mom) will sit during the ceremony. I have no family, everyone has passed away and no siblings. It seems strange to just be sitting in the first row all by myself, her family is def larger than ours (husbands side). Any one ever experienced anything like this?

Borrow some family from the bride's side. Her family should be willing to loan you some siblings of the parents or the bride. Also, if there are too many people on the bride's side, have ushers ask people to just go on both sides.

I agree with Michael - you could have everyone fill seats on both sides, instead of having the traditional "bride's side" and "groom's side". Another thing your son could do (if he chooses) is have the wedding party sit in the front row instead of standing at the altar during the ceremony after walking down the aisle, so that you won't be the only one in the front row.
