    Site fee is basically money you give the venue just to be there. For example, a venue may charge $1000 as a site fee and then have a food and beverage minimum of $5k. Think of it as a security deposit that you don't get back. : D

    If you are getting married at someplace like a mansion or castle, you have to pay just to have the event there. A rental fee. Then you add the food and beverage on top of that. Most halls and restaurants do not have site fees.

    At the country club where we am having are getting married, we had to pay a $250 site/non-member fee. Some places charge that if your not a member of their establishment or just to host your event there.

    Some mansion venues are located on college campuses. If this is the case, the site fee may be an income tax deductible contribution. Helps to ease the pinch a little.
