Sit-Down Dinners and Buffets, and Food Stations...Oh My!

I am sure that I want Food Stations at my reception, the venue that I chose, has a lot of awesome stations to choose from (Soul Food, Chinatown, Little Italy, South Of the Border, Martini Glass Mashed Potato Bar, and a lot more) I get to choose three with my package, and I can add others at a cost...

I am sure that I want Food Stations at my reception, the venue that I chose, has a lot of awesome stations to choose from (Soul Food, Chinatown, Little Italy, South Of the Border, Martini Glass Mashed Potato Bar, and a lot more) I get to choose three with my package, and I can add others at a cost of course. I am completely sure that I don't want a traditional buffet, only because I don't like the way the long lines look when trying to get food, although I know this can happen with food stations also. Come to think of it, What is the difference between Buffets and Food Stations? I know price for one, but other than that...I don't know. And sit-down dinners seem absolutely formal to me and there is really not much of a variety to the meal, so my question is:

What type of dinner are you ladies of WW having at your reception?

We are doing a buffet- because of more variety.

    We are getting

    -chicken florentine

    -baked manicotti

    -cavatelli and sausage and broccoli

    -carving station of prime rib

    -roasted potatoes

    -green beans

    -ceasar salad

    -antipastio

    plus a cheese/crackers/fruit hour

and top shelf open bar. which we got for 70 a person out the door (with tax and gratuity). We got sooo frigging lucky!

We're doing a light lunch buffet. I'm a picky eater, so I like the idea of a buffet because the I am the one choosing what goes on my plate. We're actually doing a soup & salad buffet. There will be a HUGE salad bar with all kinds of veggies and toppers (cranberries, croutons, chopped bacon & hard boiled egg, 3 different kinds of cheese, strawberries, mandarin oranges, etc.) plus an option to add tuna salad or grilled chicken. Then we'll have 4 different hearty soups: Beef Barley (FH's fav), Chicken Noodle, Broccoli Cheese and Pumpkin, with a vast assortment of breads. All of this after a cheese/cracker/fruit hors d'ouevre hour while we're doing pictures. FH and I love the idea and it saved us a bundle.

We are doing a plated meal with three options because that's what my Mom preferred (she's traditional when it comes to weddings) and since she agreed to pay for venue/food I said ok. I probably would have done a buffet but it was less important to me how the food was served and more important that it is TASTEY!!
