Sister in law and niece duties dilemma

Catherine, on January 27, 2022 at 10:38 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 9

Hi Ladies,

Originally I was going to get married in a church and then reception in a venue. I planned to have my sister in law and FH niece (age 11) read at the church so I can have them involved in some way. I already have my sister as maid of honor and my daughters and FH daughter as bridesmaids. I also have my niece and FH other niece as flower girls.

We were going to get married last year, but my FH nephew passed away so we postponed our wedding for a year and since then we have changed our plans completely.

My issue is that now we are getting married at the venue and I don't know how to get my sisrer in law and FH niece involved in the wedding. Any suggestions? I definitely do not want to make my sister in law a matron of honor or a bridesmaids because I only want my daughters and my FH daughter to be the bridesmaids. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can still have them do readings.

Hi Hannah, Like what kind of readings? Because at the church I was planning on having them do a bible reading. We are going to have a officiant at the venue.

Are you planning on having a religious aspect to your ceremony at your venue? If yes, then bible readings would still fit. If not, then they could read a poem or passage from another book about love, relationships, etc.

You can still do a reading. Either a scripture/paraphrase if you want it to be religious or a poem or quote.

As others have said, it could be a religious reading or a non-religious reading about love and commitment a poem, an excerpt from a book or essay, etc. It can be anything you all want!

Like everyone else previously, having them do a reading would still be acceptable! And with it not being at a church you have more creative control!!!
