Single Guests at Destination Wedding - Sandals

Cassie, on April 15, 2020 at 11:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
We are planning on doing a destination wedding at Sandals South Coast. Unfortunately things went a little backwards as we weren't initially planning on doing a destination wedding, and now we are left a little stumped. Both of us have single parents, which doesn't really fit in with the Sandals booking model. My question is, has anybody done a Sandals wedding and had single guests come? What did that look like? We are working with a travel agent so she will be able to answer too, I was just curious what other people have experienced!

Not quite sure what you mean by “what did that look like”, but I’ve been in a wedding at a Sandals resort. If you have solo guests coming and they are rooming alone, they’ll be charged a higher “single” rate as rooms are generally priced based on double occupancy. It doesn’t make sense to me why they do that, but most All-inclusive resorts do that for single rooms. Hopefully your travel agent negotiated/plans to negotiate discounted room rates/room block for your guests. If not, you can call the Groups Dept or ask your Wedding Coordinator at Sandals.

We're getting married in Jamaica at Sandals South Coast as well in October. Our single family members are rooming with other family members. The single parents don't have other family (grandparents, adult kids, etc or close friends they can room with?

I was MOH at a similar destination wedding and it was a little tough for singles. Older singles (parents and grandparents) paid the higher single room rates and just dealt with it. Single friends either roomed with their friends or the bride helped pair people together. This got a little more complicated in that the travel agent “booked” them rooms with two beds, but when we got to the resort there weren’t any left. They told us it is common to only have about 10 rooms with multiple beds in a resort with a couple hundred total rooms. Several strangers got a little more cozy that weekend than they planned!

Unfortunately no, we are keeping things really small and my one sister is already rooming with my mom. It leaves my dad and fiances mom separate. We may offer for them to bring someone. I'm hoping the travel agent can negotiate something!
