Singers auditions?

Halle, on June 6, 2019 at 4:39 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4
So I think I want live singers at my wedding ceremony to sing the songs I’ve chosen but I really love the way the artists sing my special songs but I think having a live singer would make it feel more intense and intimate . So I’m in between two female singers one is charging me 200$ for 2 songs and the other is not charging me but I’m going to pay her anyway . I know they can both can sing but the one that is charging 200$ wants a deposit in the next week or so for my December wedding 😐. Anyway is it too much for me to ask them both to sing the songs before I pay anyone ? How much are you guys. Getting charged for singers?

I think that seems reasonable. If they want to be paid, then you can classify them as professional musicians, so they should be comfortable with an audition. If you want them to do the actual songs in their audition, make sure to give them enough time to rehearse. Maybe just pick one of the two?

I'm not hiring any live musicians, but $200 seems pretty reasonable to me

I think it’s reasonable for them to sing in person or send a short clip or a clip of a different song. As a musician, I’m not comfortable sending a full recording of someone’s wedding songs since they could just use that and never pay you. $200 is a normal rate, and December really books up fast so it’s normal to want a deposit soon. I wouldn’t hire someone you’ve never heard a sample of though.

I'm really not sure (I'm not a professional singer). To me, learning the song & singing it & recording it (or meeting up with you) is a lot of unpaid work that I wouldn't be interested in doing if my website showed videos or recordings of other songs.

Most singers have demos on the website.
