We are thinking of doing this. There is a local musician who is just wonderful and has kind of a Norah Jones kind of voice. I would love to have her play during our dinner hour but I wonder if people would talk over her?

My mother wants to hire a local singer around here to sing during dinner. Which would be awesome if I didn't actually hate the kid as a person. Ha but he songs all like old Italian music and sounds really good

We found someone that plays music for whatever you'd like (cocktail hour, pre-ceremony, dinner, etc) then he will DJ for the dancing which is really cool. I think a mix like that is nice. However we don't think we'll be able to afford it. But I did go to a wedding with a guitar player/singer and it was a nice touch. Then for dancing they used their ipod (it was a pretty casual wedding).

We have a band for the reception and for dinner he will play what he calls his Jazzy hour. He is used to performing this set acoustically and then the full band will start after dinner.

We hired a band for our reception. The band will take a break during dinner to eat and than resume playing. The singer said they can change it up so its something light during dinner and more dancy afterwards. Ours can sing jazz, swing, contemporary songs - you name it.
