Simple wedding?

Is anyone doing a simple wedding? Not bouquet chandeliers and 8ft arches lined with real flowers? No drone videography... just a simple wedding? I miss hearing about those. Tell me about yours if you are having one?

We had a simple wedding! 28 people and we got married at our church. I did not decorate the church, just allowed the back drop to be lit in fall colors. I did no decor at all for either our church or receptions pace. Our reception was held at a restaurant that provided single red stemmed rose centerpieces. It was perfect and simple. We had a nice afternoon tea vibe going on and it was super relaxed and sweet. I let my matron of honor take her flowers with her and the other two bouquets became decor in our home in vases. It's nice to have those little reminders around Smiley smile We did do semi-pro photography though and I'm so glad we did. That was worth it!

Ours was pretty simple I think. No bridal party, no DJ-playlist and wireless speakers for music, small, intimate venue (old farm house), no dances, no speeches, nacho/taco bar buffet, no cake-had donut towers. No drones, videography, bouquets, arches, chandeliers, real flowers. All decor and signs were DIY. My dress was a simple $99 Davids Bridal, shoes I already owned. jewelry from Claires. I wouldn't consider anything about your wedding extravagant but it was everything we wanted. It was perfect! Final cost was $6869.

Yes yes yes. We are. 70 guests max. No frill and all the extra stuff. I will be making the bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres as well as about 2 tall centerpieces to go at the altar - which is going to cost about $10 ea to make. I also plan to have about 12 LED candles to light the aisle which is about $16 from Amazon. Thats it thats all. I am not doing real flowers bc frankly they are overpriced and the real touch flowers look just a beautiful, I will have our venue lightly mist them before the ceremony/reception w/ an oil. As for the centerpieces. The BM will place their bouquets in vases on their table. The remaining tables will be the hotels house centerpieces and decor.

Our wedding will only have about 20 guests, in a small church. Our reception is no frills, basically just a dinner and some background music. The church will have 2 vases as decorations and the most elaborate thing that day is going to be my dress, lol. No signage, no cheesy stuff....just nice and simple. Smiley smile

We just might since we had to cancel our wedding. This time around, we just might do something pretty simple. I'm exhausted thinking about everything else we had originally planned. I don't want to have to go through that again.

We're looking into one venue where they have an elopement package for up to 30 guests. It'll include a coordinator for a little 2 hour event with a custom 1 tier cake with champagne and cider toast. It also comes with water and iced tea stations.

It would have white linen for the cake table with either gold or silver cake stand and we'll get a selection from 5 different cake topper styles. It'll be either gold or silver chiavari chairs for the ceremony but we're most likely going to go with gold for that and the cake stand. After that we're thinking of just heading over to a nearby restaurant.

Mine is pretty simple. We're getting married at our local zoo, one spot for the ceremony and another for the reception. It'll be early evening into night, so the lighting will be sunset, lights in the tree, and four lampposts provided by the zoo. Natural setting so no other decor necessary. Only flowers will be our bouquets, corsages, and boutennieres, which will be all carnations. There will be 60 guests. Definitely no photo booth, drones, videography, or signage except what the zoo provides. It's already costing more than what we wanted to spend, but we really loved the zoo and that's what is costing the most.

Our wedding is pretty simple, some of the details are still a work in progress because our venue is still being built!! Our rings are less than $200 and not super flashy/big, attire is pretty laid back (groom, groomsmen, etc will be in boots, jeans, cowboy hats, nice button up, vest, FH in a sport coat hopefully), less than 150 people, more than likely will do most of the decor, food, etc. ourselves!!

I would like to say mine is more on the simple side. We are only inviting 76 guests- our closest family and friends. I will not be doing much of any decor in the chapel; just an aisle runner and some artificial flower petals.

We will be having a traditional videographer-no drone and only 1 photographer.

I am doing a lot of DIY aspects to avoid the insanely high average amount that people spend on weddings now (not to shame them; if you can afford it and really want to, go for it.) It just isn't something that is in our budget nor do we wish to spend $30k+ on our wedding.

We are having bouquets, but they are not over the top and are made from artificial flowers. This is my bouquet:

We will have simple centerpieces that speak to us as a couple. The flowers are made from maps to go with our travel theme. Nothing over the top Smiley smile

We are hopefully having a simple small wedding, I just want nature and our closest family and friends and not even a reception but of course my mom is like you need to have one.

Do what you both want to do

Mine will be pretty simple, ceremony inside a venue that feels like a wood cabin. Decorating mostly with lanterns, mason jars, small flower arrangements and photos of me and my FH. Having a burrito bar for dinner and a sundae bar for dessert.

Yes! We are trying to be as simple as possible/use the resources we already have. The biggest things we are doing is a food truck and renting a tent! I love to Macrame, so I am making a Macrame Arch, and we are using some decor from my cousin's wedding. When people ask about our wedding, I tell them I am looking forward to the ceremony, but after that as long as there is good food and music, I want people to enjoy themselves and have a good time. We will be playing our fav music and having some yard games for people to enjoy. Basically just a fun backyard party is the vibe I'm going for Smiley smile

Ours was an 11am ceremony at an arboretum, no flowers needed there! 10 minute ceremony, no music, no readings. Lunch reception in a private dining room. Beautiful stained glass and wood tables, no decoration needed there! My college aged sons were my Best Men, Groom had one Best Man, no matching suits or tuxes. I had a small bouquet. Few drinks were ordered as it was noon. Total budget for 50 people? I think it was between $2500 and $2800 as hubby is generous tipper, lol. My dress was $60 off Amazon! Biggest expenses were food/drink, photography and renting our space at the Arboretum. We had a friend who is a pro musician play music at the reception, he offered a discount as we were friends but again I think hubby tipped him so much it was almost his regular fee, lol. No regrets!!

We are keeping it small, less then 25 people. I want to do something quirky like a murder mystery dinner for our reception. I want the focus to be more around everyone enjoying each other and less on panicking if decorations are hung.

I am trying to keep it as simple as possible! We did splurge on the photographer and videographer, but other than that we have just been trying to keep costs down. Got my dress on clearance for $200, getting buffet dinner for $25 a person, got cake for 150 people at less than $500, choosing the smaller decorating package that's $800 (they setup, teardown, make all the centerpieces), having my step dad officiate (free, and priceless), having a smaller wedding party, etc. The hair & makeup artist was kind of expensive ($500), but mostly did that because I suck at both and we have the photographer&videographer. We want the day to be simple and just about our love for one another!Smiley heart

We're having it as simple as could we can. Taking an officiant, a photographer and her videographer husband, my 5 family members and my fella's best friend to the desert to say, "I do."

I'm made my bouquet from Hobby Lobby, bought a $60 dress from Dillards Outlet, and we're having pie instead of cake.

All in all, start to finish, we're still paying less than 2 grand.
We're minimalists and environmentalists. A big wedding never made any sense to either of us.

    Kayla...

What riverboat company did you choose? We are having our wedding ceremony and reception on a riverboat as well! What did you choose for centerpieces? That has been the hardest part for me!

We had to cancel this due to covid but were going to use Lake Austin River boats. Centerpieces were going to be small florals in a cement holders so they wouldnt fall easily with wind or anything. I used Christieturnerdesigns.com for our florals and they did not disappoint!!!!
