Simple dilemma? Groomsmen all live in different cities

Mrs Lilow, on January 14, 2011 at 1:40 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

So FH's groomsmen live all over the state. Every single one of them lives in a different city these days. How in the world do I get them in matching formal wear that fits them? I'm considering having them get their measurements taken then just ordering their clothes myself and having them reimburse me the cost?? Any suggestions?

I'm doing exactly that! My FH best man lives in Israel and is not coming until a week before the wedding. I decided to ask him for his measurement then order the tux for him since it is a rental anyways. I was planning on getting him I the store the day after he lands to make sure everything fits Smiley smile

We have a similar problem with groomsmen living out of state. The store that we're renting the tuxes from gave us a list of stores that can take their measurements. The groomsmen will pay for the tuxes, they will be ordered, and they will try them on a couple days before the wedding to make any final adjustments.

Yep.... Go find the tux that you want the men to wear. The shop will either have cards for the men to get filled out, or an email, website form, or something of that sort.

The men can go to any suit store or tux shop and get their measurements. They just need to bring the card with for the staff to fill the measurements on. Then they mail or fax the measurements into your tux shop. Some tux shops have you put a deposit down to place the order/save the date. The men can pay for the tux over the phone or when they get in town and go to try on/pick up. (or pay you back)

That's what we are doing, just have them go to any tux store in their area and they can usually get measured for free, just explain that it's for an out of town wedding. And they can always pay you up front or reimburse you.

Men's warehouse has a program that they can send in their measurements. You pick the tux and color and send them to their local store to get it and they pay. Since it's a chain the colors will match.

We're in China and the groomsmen are all in different states from the location of the wedding, which will be in Ohio. We're using Tuxedo Junction. They're having us send in measurements now, which can be taken by any suit retailer or tuxedo rental place (or done at home), and then they told us that final fittings were taken a week before the wedding. We've acknowledged that only FH will be in town at that point, so the measurements will have to do!

We did exactly that. All our guys live overseas so we had them go and get measurements and shoe sizes and then we ordered suits for them. Since the suits come untailored, we have each one get fitted when they come for a visit. Only one of FH's brothers won't be visiting before the wedding so for him we're having him fly in the Tuesday before and have already arranged with the tailor to get him fitted asap. I feel better not having to worry about them flying over with the suit and possibiliy forgetting it. This way I'll know everything is here and ready for them on the day.

We have the same problem, they are all over the US. We decided that since we are giving the girls (who all happen to live very close to us) a choice of dress (just telling them the designer and color) we are allowing the men to all agree on one general style (black tux vs black suit) and letting them choose the rest or wear what they have. To us, matching just isn't important.

I was going to suggest Men's Warehouse or one of the major chains. The groomsmen go in the their local store and get measured, place the order, pay and it's rented from YOUR local store.

We are using Jos A Bank. There is one of those in almost every major city. We've already picked the tuxes we want. Far as I know the Groomsmen just have to go in one in their local city and get fitted. We'll probably pick them up at the Fort Myers location since our wedding is there.

    That sounds about right, right?
