I just wanted to get some feedback on flowers. I am not a big "flower" person and have decided to go with the silk flowers for bouquets, bouts, etc since I feel like real flowers are kind of a waste. yea they smell good but then you pay all that money and they are dead in 3 days. So really, what's the point? I also looked online and they were cheaper. However, I am getting feedback from a couple of vendors that they are actually more expensive so now I don't know what to do. Has anyone done silk flowers and what did you think vs. real?

Thank!

Good morning and THANK YOU for your post! This has been one of the many- HUGE decisions in planning our daughter’s wedding from out of state— to use real flowers or silk (real touch) I’ve special ordered flowers and I can tell you, they are NOT cheap! We have “29” guest tables and centerpieces and our daughter lives in Ohio and we live in Tennessee. We are a 9 hour drive from the wedding venue and our daughter has an hour drive. Logistics logistics and time of year— LATE SEPTEMBER are factors I am faced with. First, delivery and prepping of LIVE flowers. By using fake, I can design arrangements here at home and take my time to perfect each one, add or take away as we see fit. ( I have rented a climate controlled storage for all of the bridal shower and wedding decor and will have to rent a covered trailer, in order to transport ALL- wedding associates items anyhow). I have watched instruction video after video on caring for and prepping for the live flowers upon delivery. WOW!! What ADDED stress that would be and I’d have to do this in a HOTEL room!! All live flowers would have to be placed in 5 gallon buckets to stay hydrated, the cut and ALL “29” arranged appropriately AND THEN risk TRANSPORT TO THE VENUE!!

Secondly, the worry about keeping them looking fresh and beautiful for another 24 hours, until the actual wedding and reception. I’m going to have enough orchestrating and tasks with my daughter, the DAY OF‼️

I purchased, glass- metallic gold, cylindrical vases in two sizes: 15” and 8”. They are GORGEOUS and also, purchased up lighting, in which to be placed into each vase, to give each table a romantic, ember light glow. I’ve really thought this out and honestly, feel this was my best solution, other than hiring a local florist in the area and that would mean traveling to Ohio and meeting with a florist- with my vases and having them show me, what they could design.

Another dilemma Is COLOR- our daughter’s wedding colors are champagne and 2 shades of gray, with all gold accents. She doesn’t want roses and white flowers and bright flowers really do not, flow with the color scheme. At least with silk, we are able to match the floral centerpieces, with the overall theme.

Lastly, just the thought of THROWING away such a HUGE investment of the real flowers is disturbing to me. At least, our centerpieces can be either given away to our family members and guests ( some of the stems cost me $20 EACH ) or resold on line.

Do you you think I have made the “ Right “ decision?? I would love to see, what your mother did with your centerpieces *****************@*****.***

I’d love to SEE— PLEASE!! I’ve spent soooo much money on these silk flowers and special ordered vases for all, of our “ 29 “ guest tables. We are having to travel and stay in hotels and having to prep and arrange, REAL flowers the night prior( where to keep them ) it having to cut and arrange DAY OF, just seems like a nightmare or spending $3000 for a florist and NOT getting the exact “ LOOK “ you want and the centerpieces not flow, with the rest of the theme, just gives me anxiety.
