Silk and Real-Touch Flower Bouquets - Are you using them?

BeachBride2016, on April 26, 2016 at 9:23 AM Posted in Planning 0 17

Flowers are so expensive! I don't want to use a large portion of my budget for them, so I'm looking into silk and real-touch bouquet alternatives. I've found some beautiful options on Etsy and I'd never know they weren't real!

So for those of you that have used them or are planning to use them, I'm curious how they turned out and how real they actually look in person. Did you regret not having real flowers in the end? Here is a picture of one I'm currently drooling over.

I am going to use silk flowers because it will save me sooooo much money. Yesterday I went to Michaels and spent about 2 hours over there looking around and playing with different flowers. I ended up buying over 200 stems plus a beautiful bridal bouquet for 86 dlls! I think they look great and it will make the DIY easier since I won't have to worry about keeping them alive. They also have a 40% sale on stems and I got and extra 20 from an online coupon.

I wanted to try the silk or real-touch flowers, but I just can't do it! There's something about real flowers that I just love! I would also say try talking to florist and see what they can do to work with you and your budget. Sometimes the smaller, mom & pop shops have more flexibility Smiley smile

Using silk/realtouch - they look even better in person than the pic.

I ended up just changing my plans from paper flowers to a combination of silk/real touch for all of my flowers. I don't have any good pictures yet, but they honestly look pretty real (in my opinion). The real touch flowers in particular are so lovely and have a great feel to them. If I could have afforded it, I would have gotten all real-touch flowers.

So, I guess my vote is for silk/real touch!

    I'm using silk!

Working on my bouquet now. These are the ones I'm using for centerpieces. I got all my flowers from afloral.com for less than $100.

I thought about it, but as I was pricing it out it didn't look like it would really be that much cheaper so I'm going with real.

Silks are about half the cost of real for us. I checked out flowers from Afloral, Hobby Lobby, and JoAnn.

Hobby Lobby True Touch are the best ones in my opinion, and bonus is they're often half off (in fact, do not buy them if they aren't, because they are half off so often). The pain is that they have some online, but not all, and some in store, but not all, so you may have to piecemeal your purchases. The roses are fantastic, the hydrangeas acceptable.

JoAnn has some Bloomin' Spring varieties that are real touch but there is no way to tell without going into the store and feeling them. I found JoAnns fake greenery to be the best...I bought a lot of fake Lambs Ear there, plus some clearly fake but super cute glittery fronds.

I bought some Real Touch from Afloral; they may carry mutiple brands but the ones I bought turned out to be Floramatique. The stems in this brand are by far the most realistic but I think the Hobby Lobby True Touch are better in terms of the flower. I also purchased the purple calla lillies and they're definitely a wine/burgundy color, not purple.

None of the flowers had a smell (I was worried they'd smell super rubbery or fake). If you do go this route, buy the floral tape and GOOD wire cutters (cause damn my hands hurt, I have a crappy pair of pliers I'm too stubborn to stop using).

My bouquet will be sola wood flowers and fabric flowers from a vendor off etsy, but the True Touch are plenty good enough for me for the day of centerpieces.

I wanted too! But our venue does not allow the use of any fake flowers outside because the last time someone used any they said they were still finiding petals years after so have band them. Were getting married outside so we had to use real ones

Using real touch pre-made rose bouquets for my BMs & MOH. They feel and look real. Got them on sale, I am getting my bouquet made from fresh flowers, I actually haven't got a florist for my bouquet in my wedding city yet but its on my ASAP list. Even with mine being fresh flowers our floral budget will be around $300 (nonfloral centerpieces), which is great bc we were expecting to spend $1-2k on flowers.

I want to keep my bouquet so I'm using silk flowers... went to Hobby Lobby yesterday and they felt pretty silky and soft to the touch.

I used all silk flowers in my bouquet, MOH bouquet and BM bouquet along with all the centerpieces and corsages. I think I had about $150-175 in all the flowers and I LOVE THEM!!
