Signature Drink - yes or no?

WWKatie, on November 2, 2015 at 10:54 AM Posted in Planning 0 31

Are you having a signature drink (or drinks) at your wedding?

FH and I are doing a 'Florida Mule', a twist on the classic Moscow Mule - aka it's just using liquor from the St. Augustine distillery. This should help to cut down on costs from the dozens of bottles of wine that would typically be drank during cocktail hour!

I wanted to do one, but I kept thinking it was just one more thing to think about and couldn't really get on it. Then we ended up having a full bar last minute anyway. Whoops!

    Your Florida Mule sounds good!

ETA: If we'd done one, I think we would have gone with a bourbon blueberry lemonade. Never got far enough to come up with a cute name.

We are having full open bar, but we are both beer drinkers so we will likely have "signature" beers. Our first date was at DogfishHead Brewery so we will have Dogfish 60 minute. My signature beer will be Raging Bitch IPA by Flying Dog (because it's my fav and I can also be a raging bitch) and his will be Pils Urquell because it's his fav. We will also have a bunch of non-alcoholic drinks in pitchers - raspberry lemonade, infused waters, etc.

We are thinking about having one. Washington Red Apple but its made with Crown and that runs about $50 a bottle here so we might just stick with beer and wine

Kentucky Margarita which is basically a margarita made w/ bourbon instead of tequila. We are bourbon lovers.

Yes! Since my in laws and their family and friends are huge Hennessey drinkers we came up with Bachelor No Mo which is Hennessey and ginger ale.

We are! We're still having an open bar but we thought it would be cute to have a purple signature drink to go with our wedding colors. I was thinking of doing 1oz coconut rum.....1oz triple sec.....2 oz cranberry juice.....1/2 oz blue curacao. But after reading the other posts I think a purple lemonade would be yummy too

@Jessica that purple lemonade looks so good!!! Is it just food coloring or something else to make it purple?

We have a top shelf full open bar but they said we can each have a signature drink. I always drink Malibu bay breezes so that will be mine and i'll come up with a unique name and my FH is probably going to do reds apple ale with a shot of fireball and name it something fun... we have time so haven't gotten that far yet! But yes I love the idea of having your own signature drink Smiley smile

We didn't do one and I'm kind of glad we didn't. All of our guests just drank beer all night, so I'm glad we didn't spend the time to come up with a drink barely anyone would order.

I love a signature drink! Both as a host and as a guest. Keeps people from standing at the bar thinking uhhh....what should I drink....

Ours were literary themed. "The Rye in the Catcher" which was basically rye whiskey, ginger beer and pineapple juice (grooms drink). And "Gulpiver's Travels" which was vodka, peach schnapps and cranberry for the bride.

I think signature drinks are adorable. We are not big drinkers though and are not having a party vibe necessarily. I think we will opt out and stick to the wine and beer option(which also does not bust the bank).

YES!!! I used to think signature cocktails were a cute, fun idea if you wanted to do them. But the last few weddings I've been to people have been so excited over the signature cocktails - they are now a 100% must for me Smiley smile

Ladies these all sound so so yummy!

Our bar package came with 6 signature cocktails. Luckily we didn't have to pick them because I couldn't focus on one more detail! I only tried just a sip of one with tequila and grapefruit and lime and it was delish! Guests raved about the others...

I'm debating this right now. FILs were in town this weekend and FMIL mentioned she was at a wedding that had a bride's cocktail and a groom's cocktail and then just beer and wine. So I'm considering this but my cocktail would probably be something boring - either a gimlet or a stinger.

Our package comes with a signature drink, but I am not exactly sure what to choose yet!

We are having a signature drink. My mom is taking care of it. No catchy name for it at this point. But it's Apple cider based. Beer and wine the signature cocktail all evening.

Yes! We are doing one based off of where we got engaged, which was on Peace Hill in St. John, USVI. The "official" drink of the Virgin Islands is the painkiller (rum, pineapple juice, cream of coconut, orange juice, and grated fresh nutmeg), so we are doing a "Peace Hill Painkiller".

Full credit to FH for coming up with that as our drink!
