Signature cocktails

Becky, on September 3, 2019 at 8:48 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13
Hello everyone!
I’m planning on having a his and hers cocktail menu but am having issues with finding recipes within my budget. Does anyone have any ideas for specialty cocktails that are cheap but yummy? so far it seems like samsclub is the way to go for purchasing our liquor. Regular and peach Vodka, Malibu, triple sec seem to be cheap at our Sam’s club, any ideas will be super helpful. How much should I purchase for a 200 guest wedding?

We are doing a hurricane and apple cider with a splash of fireball for ours if that helps!

I guess my suggestion would be to think of cocktails that use minimal ingredients. Do either of you have a “go to” drink you get when out? Something like a vodka tonic I would think wouldn’t be too pricey? Unless you also need to supply limes...
Avoid things like a Long Island where you have 4 different types of alcohol in the one drink. You could use vodka and triple sec to make cosmopolitans. But in general I’d try and stick to one liquor and only one to two mixers to keep the cost low. Malibu and pineapple juice is super yummy and might be an option. Also using a flavoured vodka and soda can be nice.

I'm not sure I understand. You are only serving these specialty cocktails? To me triple sec is more of a mixer type alcohol. I have never drank it solo or without something else like vodka.

Vodka, peach vodka, and Malibu can pretty much be mixed with any juice. I assume Malibu ur referring to is the coconut rum? Malibu baybreeze is malibu pineapple and Cranbury juice. Pineapple and Cranbury are also really tasty with vodka.

I would say only 1 flavored liquor and the other plain because some people do not like flavored liquor.. It gives me a headache from the sugar.

Have you considered 1 light liquor and one dark like bourbon? You can make mules with any type of liquor. It's ginger beer, liquor and lime. My fiance loves mules with bourbon. I prefer them with a flavored vodka.

    Here’s some ideas:

Moscow Mule (vodka, ginger beer, and lime), Cape Cod (vodka and cranberry juice), John Daly (lemonade, tea, and vodka), Dark and Stormy (dark rum, ginger beer, and lime), Jack and Coke, Jack and Ginger (Jack/Jim and Ginger ale), Peach and Tea (peach schnapps, tea, maybe vodka), Bay Breeze (vodka and pineapple juice).

    Hope that helps!

You could do a dirty Shirley. A Shirley temple with vodka, it’s super cheap and so yummy. Decent vodka, sprite and some grenadine.

If we do specialty cocktails. This is gonna be it. 2 ingredients per drink.

Thanks so much. Im just trying to serve alcohol but not so much an open bar (too pricey) so the alternative one of my bridesmaids gave me was just beer and two signature cocktails to keep the price down. So I’m just trying to find what’s cheapest. You bring up an awesome point about the dark and light liquor. Definitely need to factor that in

Great! And I imagine you'll be having soda normally? Get liquors that can mix with sodas easily like vodka and bourbon. If your only picking 2 I'd say pick them plain because people might want to stray from signature menu and make their own with soda like vodka sprite or something.
