Signature Cocktails: Fun or Unnecessary?

What are your thoughts on signature cocktails? Are you creating a signature cocktail for your wedding? If so, did you pick your favorite/go-to beverage? Or did you pick one that you thought most of your guests would like? If not doing a signature cocktail, why not?

That's so fun that you picked a drink that matched your wedding colors! Sangria is *always* a good option, too. Did you guys pre-make the sangria yourselves? Or did the bartenders make it?

I don't see why not. I know a previous person said that they may not like the combos but I don't think that it's a case where a lot of people won't. One of the wedding's I went to a couple of years ago the bride and groom each had a signature cocktail and then they still had a full open bar. My husband like the male version and I love the feminine version which was perfect for both of us. I think we're signature cocktails if you're going to do one whomever your bartender is there going to be an expert and what drinks are very popular just like if you go to a bar and say what's good here they're going to tell you what's very loved by everyone so I feel like if they do something that's maybe more on the for lack of a better term than in cocktail side and it's something other than more manly you should be okay. I even end up having some wine late at night because of what it was on a Sunday and I don't want to keep drinking the cocktails.

The bartenders made all of the drinks.

I love the idea of giving guests a recommendation for a cocktail they may not have tried before! For the drinks you picked, were those what you and your husband typically liked to drink even before the wedding? Or did you choose them just for the wedding? They sound delicious!

My husband loves whiskey, so he looked up interesting recipes for whiskey drinks, and I had a French 77 a few times before and thought it was delicious and also elegant. So we based them off of things we like but are not necessarily our "go-to" cuz his go-to is honestly just whiskey neat or on the rocks and mine is red wine lol, so not as exciting.

We're doing a full open bar, so we'll definitely have other choices in addition to our signature drink suggestions. And wow, those sound like unique signature drinks! I can totally understand being disappointed that you can't enjoy beverages at a wedding if they're super limited in options.

That makes sense! I agree that having two completely different signature drinks gives more variety and a higher likelihood that most guests will enjoy at least one of the two. Thank you for sharing!

It would've have been way too difficult for us to do because we live 4 hours from our venue and all of our family and friends live at least 1.5 hours away.

That's really cool! I love that your signature drinks are based on drinks you actually like. I've never had a French 77 drink before, but it sounds delicious! Thank you for sharing!

That makes sense! That would have been more hassle than it's worth. We live 2.5 hours away from our venue, so whatever drinks we pick for our signature drinks, will definitely need to be made by our bartenders instead of us making them ahead of time!

They sound fun to me too! I've never attended a wedding that had signature drinks, but I think it would be fun as a guest to try them.

Signature cocktails are included in our bar package so we'll be making two. I'm not sure where we're going to start with flavors. I'm an amateur bartender and my bridal party are requesting my drinks so this is the closest they'll get outside of me making some for the bachelorette party lol.

We'll have an open bar and non-alcoholic beverages too so I don't think I'll have to worry about making it super special since they'll have options for other things. I like the idea to make them based on our favorites though. We'll have to discuss it and see what we come up with the closer we get to our date.
