Sick Bride :(

Aisha, on June 14, 2014 at 12:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

As if the stress of my wedding isn't enough, I was at the doctor today for a bad cough and he told me I have BRONCHITIS!!! What?!?! Did I mention my wedding is June 20th. Thats 6 days from now. My mum is out running my daily errands as I've been advised to rest. I feel so helpless and anxious just laying in bed when there's still so much to do!!! Has this happened to anyone else and how did you handle it. P.S my FH has been at my every beckon call. He's truly an amazing soul.

Oh gosh I am so sorry!!! that is my nightmare Smiley sad. BUT you still have 6 days! take your antibiotics, get LOTS of rest, and take vitamins or drink smoothies with vitamins and immune in them to try and get yourself back up to feeling better. I have had bronchitis two times and I know it's horrible but hang in there! as long as you just really rest and take your medicine you should be feeling at least better! You'll still probably have a cough on your wedding day but will be feeling lots better!!! try not to worry!!! you will still have a beautiful day! Smiley smile

Yikes! Each case is different, but I just finally got over a case of bronchitis (mixed with a sinus infection) that took three weeks to clear. Get lots of rest, inhale steam, TAKE YOUR MEDS, and just cough up as much crap as you can. Hope you feel better soon!

Go to your doctor and ask for an inhaler. I had bronchitis once for weeks, and they finally gave me steroids and two different kinds of inhalers and I was fine in about 3 days.

So sorry to hear this! Sadly I get bronchitis often, as I have asthma. The only thing that really helps is lots of rest, stay hydrated, avoid dairy-it will add to the congestion/mucus build up. You can try taking hot showers or just running super hot water and steaming up the bathroom, and breathe in the steamy air. I've never tried it, but Vicks vapor rub on the bottom of the feet is supossed to work wonders. And then there are inhalers and steroids they can give you to help too. Hope you feel better soon!!

Vicks vapor rub anywhere works wonders too!! I'm with Jenn. Bottom of the feet, chest area, and directly under your nose, works some amazing wonders. Then go hang out in your bathroom and steam it up with a hot shower. That helped me IMMENSELY with bronchitis a couple years back. And of course, tons and tons of sleep. Sending good thoughts your way!

I had pneumonia my first wedding, I never made it to my rehearsal as I was in the ER getting antibiotics, I had a heck of a time with photos because each time the flash went off my eyes watered so was constantly fixing makeup. REST, FLUIDS, take meds and hang on for the ride darling it will all be ok sick or not you will make it through your big day and all will workout.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.. Keep us posted!!

Take your antibiotics! This is the only sickness that will force me to take antibiotics otherwise it could turn into pneumonia and you don't want that. Rest, liquids, vaporizer. Feel better! You have time to get over it just take good care of yourself.

If you don't have a prescription for prednisone, get one now! It will work wonders, trust me. I get bronchitis often due to asthma, and when it gets really bad, the steroids are what saves me (I'm a semi-professional singer, so I know what it is like to "not be able to be sick"). Sounds like you already have the antibiotics, inhalers, and an awesome fiancée who is taking good care of you, which is also good.

I'm surprised so many people are saying take your antibiotics. Antibiotics treat bacterial infections, which is usually gone by the time bronchitis sets in. But I have to agree, if you're doctor gave them to you, use them up!

My advice is definitely to rest up as much as possible and also KNOW YOUR MEDS and their side effects. When I had bronchitis they gave me a narcotic cough syrup and I guess it worked well and cleared it up mostly within a week but when I took it I was completely out for hours, whether I wanted to sleep or not. Lol.

Good luck. Really hope you get to feeling better!!!
