Shuttle Services

Brittany, on April 10, 2015 at 4:21 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

I'd love to provide a shuttle for my guests staying at the hotel we blocked but I'm wondering what the average cost is. I got one quote for a Coach bus for $1400 but the hotel and venue are only 10 mins away from each other. They won't seem to give me a quote for their smaller buses/vans or even school buses without me telling them my budget. Any idea what a normal shuttle service would cost?

That sounds like a LOT to me. I would guess the price varies depending on where you live but we got a shuttle (30 seater) for 4 hours and it was about $430 if I recall. All the companies I talked to had a four hour minimum but their costs were close to 110-120 per hour when you break it down.

We quoted out a shuttle service through a few limo companies and all that I was getting was between $1300 and $1500. We decided against it, it's just not in our budget. Our guests are responsible adults and will find their way to/from the wedding.

We only paid about $200 to have the hotel shuttle run guest back and forth. They used the vans and small bus they use to shuttle hotel guest to the airport.

Not the classiest and fanciest option but economical.

They had to make 3 trips there and 3 back. The hotel was just over 2 miles from the venue

consider renting a van for the weekend. Or, if you have a lot of guests, then consider renting a tour bus/party bus (around $600-800 per day) or a school bus (around $250-$400 per day.

Have you checked with your hotel to see if they provide shuttle transportation?

Probably depends a lot on your region. We paid about $900 to shuttle wedding party, us, wedding party SOs, and immediate family only. It was a 30 minute ride between hotel/venue so shuttles weren't really a good option to have people waiting an hour for the next one. We booked 2 reservations instead of paying for a bus to sit around for hours in between.

My coordinator is getting quotes for me on shuttles right now. The first one she sent was $2100. I nearly died. But that is for 3 different shuttles (we blocked three different hotels) to and from the venue. I've asked her to see if there are cheaper options because that is just not in our budget.

We are renting a 57 passenger motor coach for our guest for 7 hours its $1,350 granted that's in Northern Virginia right outside of DC so the prices are a bit high.

This was such a difficult task to get done! I really wanted a shuttle too and the hotel quote was so high! I eventually rented one 15 passenger van for eight hours that would shuttle back and forth. It was $550 and worked out fine for the number of guests who would use it and the distance between locations. I called around a LOT. if you're in the LA area we used AA Valet. They were great.

That's odd. They should be giving you a quote based on the number of guests you expect to shuttle. I contacted like 10 different shuttle companies on our search and none of them asked my budget. We ended up contracting with a school bus company because it was affordable, but also I'm a teacher and we met at the school where we were both working at the time, so it fits our story Smiley smile

My quotes came back at around $850 for 5 hours for a 50 passenger bus. I haven't decided if I'm going to go with it or not. I'm in MD, which is supposedly one of the more expensive areas to get married, so $1400 seems steep to me.

Your budget has nothing to do with the distance and number of trips/passengers does.

On another note, if you (or anyone else) decides to book shuttles, be VERY specific about boarding times, allow enough time for guests to get on board, off board and seated, and have everyone on site early. This is the single most regular reason we're late to start the ceremonies.
